Can someone give me a little insight on this game? I'm avoiding videos for most releases this fall because I hate spoilers.

I know this much:

  • Like GTA series
  • About gangs
  • Quirky/goofy
  • Open world

Mainly I want to know what sets it apart from similar games.

Batman: AC is one of my favorite games this gen. Tough to pick a favorite with Valkyria Chronicles, GoWIII, ACII, UC2, MGS4 and others being great games. The combat mechanics are fluid, great story and pacing with lots of attention to detail. Did I mention I'm only 11% done?

I beat Uncharted 3 this weekend before picking up Batman again (I was only 5% done). Different games I understand, but I don't think UC3 can touch Batman: AC.

Combat mechanics (hand-to-hand): Batman, wow. UC3 had some cool interactions with the envirmonment but it got repetitive.

Combat mechanics (other): Batman simply because of the volume of ways to take down a foe. UC3's aiming was odd.

Story: Batman.

Bosses: I haven't made it to a Batman boss fight yet, though I think I'm about to meet Penguin in the Museum. UC3 bosses were anticlimactic though. The final boss fight was a joke.

Platforming: Batman's evironment recognition is better IMO, but UC3 had some great platforming set pieces.

Replayability: Batman. I would much rather spend my time solving riddles than looking for treasure in UC3. I will eventually play Crushing once the patch comes out and multiplayer will be fun. But Batman had challenge maps, campaigns, DLC, etc.

If you were torn between the two, get Batman: AC just my opinion.

If you want my advice, I'd say get through Uncharted 3 now and then go back to Batman. Uncharted is a quick story/cinematicly driven game and is best enjoyed uninterrupted. Arkham city provides a ton more gameplay so after you get through Uncharted 3, there will be a metric ****load of stuff to enjoy in Batman.

In other words: get Uncharted over with then enjoy and explore Arkham city at your leissure

Pikminmaniac

Without reading your post, that's exactly what I decided last night. I've played Batman: AC slowly, reading all character bios, listening to prisoner/guard conversations, absorbing the environment etc. However, I'm not far enough in the story to forget anything I've learned.

I popped in Uncharted 3 last night to play Chapter 1 and didnt' stop until Chapter 5, and I'm just going to finish it.

So I agree on all points.

The real probem is when Skyrim comes out... Ha.

@coasterguy65 Agreed. It's so tempting to pop in UC3, but I know if I do I'll be stuck not knowing what to play. I'm counting on Skyrim to fill the January void. @WR_Platinum Can you go back and collect Riddler trophies/complete side missions after completing the main story? I'm tempted to do that and come back to the side objectives later i.e. Zszaz.

Are there any good books on how this stuff works? It's completely fascinating how this group, who I assume to be quite intelligent, can do what they want on the internet.

And to think I thought it was cool when I sent my first AIM message.

Good books? Anything related to computer security will give you the information you need. No theres nothing "fascinating" about anonymous. Theere are, at best, around 4 or 5 intelligent members, and 10 - 15 competent members, followed by hundreds of drones that do little more than follow basic directions created by senior members. Many of them have been caught by the FBI because they rely on the instructions set forth by the more competent members but fail to take proper precautions of anonymity.

They are little more than a bunch of teenagers/young adults who think that "hacking is cool" and they are "sticking it to the man" in a display of rebellion due to a perceived slight.

You make lots of sense. The world would be a better place if they applied their computer sense to making video games. What does DDOS stand for?

This is quite apropos:

Anonymous isnt going to be "hacking" anything in Facebook. They are attempting to pump massive amounts of traffic to facebook in an attempt to overload their servers and bring the site down.

At best, they may briefly interrupt service. More than likely, nothing will happen considering Facebook's massive infrastructure. Anonymous attempted to do the same thing to Amazon... it didn't work at all.

HA! I suppose I'm in the second window, but either way that is very appropriate. I'm a newbie.

I'm new to the whole Anonymous thing, but I read today about their fight with the Zeta drug cartel and taking down a child porn ring. Then I read where the plan to take down Facebook.

How do they even do that stuff? Couldn't the world's most popular website stop that?

I suppose it's like the movie Catch Me If You Can. Sometimes the criminals are the ones who would make the actually law better.

I got Uncharted 3 in the mail yesterday and I'm only 5% done with Batman: AC. I'm just glad Batman is awesome enough to will me away from Uncharted 3!

Need.... more.... time......
