Another Channel I have come in to like, is the Everybody Votes Channel... the Channel itself is not that great, or that fun, but its "entertaining" to vote on the surveys, and then watching the results. Now that I have a permanent router, i get to vote everyday. I have sent a few questions, but I have seen none on display :P.. Hehe. But as with the Wii Shop Channel, my country is not on the supported list >:(, so I'm stuck with Georgia :P... I choose that state because I have some relatives there :P.
I continue to use the Internet channel, and I even use it on a Daily basis, as I have said, Its a great tool!. And it works as an alternative when someone else is using the computer. I can check every webpage that I use to browse on my computer, GoNintendo, the daily Smash updates, all... with just one hand :P. I have used it to make homeworks even, browsing to Wikipedia and pages of that sort, and the nice thing of all this I that I can lie down on my couch, and be as confortable as I want.
It's nice to watch videos on your TV, you just have to navigate to Youtube, Video Google, or whatever, and sitdown :D..
But that's not all, the Internet Channel has been Updated! We all knew that a Wii Update alowed the unnanounced feature of USB Keyboard :P... but only for the Wii Menu's, but this Internet Channel update alows you to use it on that channel too. This was the motivation I needed to go and ask for the Keyboard I didn't have :P. After finnaly asking one from a friend, I tried the recently updated channel, It's glorious, the mapped the buttons the same way you use them on the Menu's, those features I was lacking of, now I have them :P... and it's way more easy to type text now. So I got the Keyboard, plugged it in, and I presenced the greatness :P.. I conside myself a "fast typer", so the Pop-Up keyboard was a limitation for me, but now it's not. It's actually a neat setup, I can have the keyboard on my legs, and the wiiremote on my hand, whenever I need to type something, i just lie down the remote, and type any address, fill any form, anything :P, as fast as my finger let me.
So, now, Wii has become a great tool for chatting also :D, leaving aside the privacy issue, I can log on to internet-bassed IM sites, like eBuddy.com, or ILoveIM.com, and instant message my friend in an intuitive fashion.
Something I tought about, is that this opens a whole new chapter on the Wii's reach to people. Now developers can make web games that take use of the whole qwerty set of keys, this will alow developers to make new, better, more inmersing games. You can move with the WASD keys and Point with the remote, GREAT!, you can port PC games to Wii, at least those made with JavaScript or Flash :P. The keyboard support simply makes the Wii more simple to use, ever more simple that what it was.
-----------------------------
Another thing I've been doing this times, is going to WiiCade.com, it a great service and the Wii API they developed is something magnificent. It is the realization of what I have tought in the past, that would be the extension of the Wii usability. People can re-make every single arcade game out there and make it, Wii Compatible. I think I have played every single game on the Wiicade site, and I have loved most of them, its just that being able to play free games, online, on your tv, its great to me!
And now with the 2.0 API, even the rotation of the wiiremote (twist) , the distance from the screen and some other things can be detected. I have played I few games that take advantage it, and they were great! But short :P... because it a developing community.
As I am a want to be Graphic Designer, I have given Macromedia Flash plenty of use, so I got into testing the Wii Remote API, I made a veeery simple personal demo, as complicated as my knowledgement alowed me :P, up loaded it to WiiCade, of a feature they call "The Sandbox" wich alows developers to test games before making them public. It didn't work the first time I launched it, but after a few tweaks, Googling a little, I made it work!.. it great :P.. Everyone can become an Indy developer for Wii now :P... even me.. a 15 year old boy.
I haven't gone very much into the 2.0 part of the API.. but I'm looking forward to developing simple games for the Wii Browser.
And a good example of Wii being an excelent, and broad plataform for developers, is an online, browser based MMO, called HullBeach(.com) wich is intended to be played on the Wii Browser, and has the Wii Remote buttons mapped to the game controlls. I recently got into it, but on my PC :P.. It's not that of a great game :P.. but that's because its limited to browser protocols, and not applications like Java or Shockwave... But is a must try :P.
My Journal has become a way for me to express (to myself :P) the Holyness of the Wii!!! But I'm running short of word to describe the greatness of it :P...
PHOTO CHANNEL UPDATE COMMING DECEMBER!
When I read the a title that looked like that on GoNintendo, I tought to myself.. Woohoo!.. finally!!.. Since the moment I got to use the Photo Channel, I tought this could turn into a great tool, for presentations and everything. I tought the needed to update the Doodle, to a more advanced feature, I tought (and think) that if they made it more complicated, more colors, more "brushed or stuff like that, I would be an excelent Add-In to buying a Wii... And maybe they could even include the ability to save pictures to SD cards so you could edit them on your Wii, and take them to your friend's... All this reasons were the one ones that made me get excited when I heard that the Photo Channel was reaciving an Update, but when I really got to readding the article, I got really disapointed :(, at Nintendo...
"You can set a picture on the SD card to be the Icon of the Photo Channel"
Great for that Part... It's not something that "we needed" but it doesn't take away anything...
"MP3 Support is replaced with ACC"
Ok, i read this one, and wanted to believe it was saying, MP3 + ACC.. but then I read a little more down... and the think it, Nintendo IS Replacing the ability to play Mp3s from and SD card, the formats most of the people use, with ACC a format that I have never used >:(!!!!!... Why? Why Nintendo?... Why you had to ruin it?... having a "better sound quailty" is nothing compared to losing the ability to play any single sound on your Wii!! I, as maaany other people, don't use that format at all, and for some it's the first time they hear about it :S!. It's an issue of codec fees?? Or is that you wan't to keep piracy out of the consoles? But why don't you see that the only thing you are doing is turning us down, and making our lives harder.
So.. for now I'll be stuck with my current Channel >:(... till something better comes out.. and I they do release the channel I'm dreamin of in the future, is MP3 VS. Updated Channel... with ACC support :), random music playback and customized ICON.
