Bought Some Things

A check came from the last month of my work-study job. I didn't think it would be processed since I turned in my sheet almost a week past the deadline, but it was. It was kind of a good one this month, as it wasn't already accounted for with some huge purchase like an iPod or an Xbox 360. I decided to get a few small things I'd been itching to purchase after I'd taken care of all the big things. Wednesday I bought a Dreamcast on ebay. The most expensive thing I've bought from the auction site yet (the most expensive thing online period title goes to my original Xbox in 2002). Mine wasn't working very well and I've always had a feeling that I mixed it up with a friend of mine. It's been a while since I won an auction--I usually just take the Buy-It-Now route. I forgot how good of a feeling it was to win something. Today I ordered "This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In" by Chevelle at Amazon.com. I don't buy CDs often, so I feel this is worth mentioning. In fact, I'm pretty sure it'll be the only CD I purchase in a while. I'd first heard of Chevelle because of their song "The Clincher" in Madden NFL 2005 (or 06, I can't remember). Then on MLB 2006 I heard "Still Running." Two songs on one CD qualifies to me as a CD I want (I can't buy everything I want) as oppose to just downloading the one song I liked. It didn't hurt that I'd heard a few other hits at a Nickelback concert a few months back. I also got a pair of earphones. I'm not going to mention what they are, because I'm pretty sure someone will tell me they suck and make me regret my purchase. Seeing as these are the most expensive earphones I've ever bought, they ought to sound better than anything I've ever had (including those RCA beauties that came with my Lyra...man I loved those) if for no other reason than they go into the ear so you can hear better and better isolate your music from your environment. That's it for now. I want to save some for Smackdown vs Raw 2007.

...Somebody's watching me

So as of late, I've been seen a lot of increase in the number of people tracking me.  This is a revelation for me, as in school I wasn't anywhere near popular.  In fact, I'm doing even worse now.  Anyway, the people I track are people I seemed to come across a good bit in the forums a few months ago.  Most of them have felt obligated to track me as well, making us friends.  I may need to go through that list again.  But why are people tracking me without any initiation on my part?  What am I doing that all of a sudden that makes me interesting?  It's certainly not my blog.  I hardly ever get comments (except from Gamingqueen, thanks.)  So anyone that is tracking me (and I'm not tracking them back), it would be greatly appreciated if I had some sort of answer as to why I'm worth being tracked.  I know people don't usually ask, but obviously I'm not one of those people.

Love Shyness

I was reading this article on Wikipedia about love shyness after reading about the 40-year-old-virgin movie. I seem to relate in a lot of the definition. I can't really debunk most of the characteristics (except maybe the favorite movies thing, I only like the Graduate and I don't like musicals). From the Wikipedia article: -He is male. -He is a virgin. -He is a person who very rarely goes out socially with women. -He is a person without a past history of any emotionally close, meaningful relationships of a romantic and/or sexual nature with any member of the opposite sex. -He is a person who has suffered and is continuing to suffer emotionally because of a lack of meaningful female companionship. In short, he is a person who desperately wishes to have a relationship with a woman, but does not have one because of shyness. -He is a man who becomes extremely anxiety-ridden over so much as the mere thought of asserting himself vis-a-vis a woman in a casual, friendly way. This is the essence of "love-shyness". -He is a man who is strictly heterosexual in his romantic and erotic orientations. In other words, he is a person who is in no way a homosexual. My own stuff: -I like to watch romantic comedies. -I think about women all the time. -I have a favorite supermodel (who the f*** has a favorite supermodel?). -I'm an only child. -I believe every part of a woman is beautiful (if the woman is beautiful to begin with--let's be reasonable here). -My standards in who is attractive seem kind of low in comparison to my peers -The stories I write seem to always have really beautiful females of adult age (I was trying not to type woman again. Oh wait...). I just wanted to put this up since it was on my mind for so long.

We're going to the finals; YouTube Explosion

The Carolina Hurricanes beat the Buffalo Sabres in 7 games and I saw the whole thing. We got off to a good start with a first goal, but the second period got ugly when the Sabres scored two. But we tied it early in the third, then took the lead, and scored an insurance goal with just under a minute left. Bring on the Oilers! In other news, I took a nap today. It's been a while since I've done that. I don't usually sleep during the day often, and this summer I haven't been sleeping much during the night, either. It had already caught up to me, but I'd been fighting it playing video games and watching TV. But today, in the middle of One Life, I just decided I'd wait to watch everything later. Tomorrow I'm going to my local broadband source, my local community college. There I will be able to upload all the comedy tv moments and sports video collages I've done (since it would take th rest of the summer at home), including a new collage I made just a few days ago (the first in almost a year). So get ready for an explosion on my YouTube profile.

Game 7

I just saw the end (I had some non-sports programming I wanted to record) of Game 6 of the Western Conference finals. The ****ing Buffalo Sabres won 2-1 to tie up the series. So now my Canes have to win it in game seven if they want to get to the finals for the first time since...Detroit beat them (the year escapes me). Anyway, I have nothing regularly to record so I'm going to watch all of that one. Also, I put this video on YouTube. My first recorded video game footage.

I witnessed an execution

Okay it was an episode of the Soap Opera One Life To Live. Todd Manning was done in by lethal injection for killing Margaret and her unborn child...even though she isn't dead. But the fact of the matter is as a person whose never seen Last Man Standing or The Green Mile, witnessing such a thing was an emotional experience and I hope I never come across the opportunity to do that in real life. Though I can't help but record the last moments of Todd's life. I sat down this whole day, as Todd died, Olivia told her vampire boyfriend to make her one too (old Port Charles), and Robin and Patrick did it for the first time, why I watch these silly shows. I guess now I know.

Comic Continuity; Madden

I have an interest in comics. Though I should note that it's not from reading comic books as much as movie adaptations and animtated TV series. I'd like to read the books, may even subscribe to a series or two, but what goes on is confusing me. Ever time I see a movie or TV show with some featured character, I go and figure out their background on Wikipedia, it turns out they're not even part of the group (the 1993 fox series X-Men is so different from the actual X-Men group it's ridiculous). I asked on a forum (not these) about jumping in the Superman group, but I didn't get any closer than I am now. And whenever I find out about soem female superhero I may be interested in (don't ask), she turns out to be dead or something. Is there any sort of guide to getting into comic books and actually being able to understand what's going on? I was inspired to copy-and-paste my thoughts when I commented on someone else's blog: I've had a problem with Madden since about 2003 or 2004 (I can't quite pinpoint it). It's gotten so complex now that I don't think anyone short of a football coach can enjoy it. There are like a million things you have to do to prepare before a play and I can't even begin to remember them all. I have some football knowledge, but I go completely blank once those 11 guys take the field and the ball is about to be snapped. This is why I've taken a greater interest towards the NCAA games. That, and the atmosphere--I can say I'm a fan of the Panthers, but I have actually seen South Carolina Gamecocks.

The braves; go canes; bag instructions vs popcorn button; PS2 new life

I haven't watched a whole Braves game this season. In the past I always seen at least one, but this year I've been watching other things and fascinated with the video games I have. I shoud note I've seen a few innings of a few. That may be the best I can do. Needless to say if they make the playoffs or something, I'm all over it. I have however, been keeping up with the Hurricanes in the playoffs. It's regenerated my love for hockey. And I have seen one regular season game. They just got to the conference finals, beating those darn New Jersey Devils. Go canes! At first I went by the instructions, but then a thought occured to me. How is it the people that make the popcorn know how to cook it in all the different wattages of microwaves out there? They don't! Which is why I now use the popcorn button on the microwave, despite the bag's warning not to use the popcorn button. Since I've started doing this, I have not scorched one bag, unlike before. In conclusion, I say screw the bag's instructions. Press the popcorn button. I just started messing with some of my older PS2 games today, trying not to forget about it in sake of the much prettier graphics of the Xbox 360. I tend to do this a lot due to my short attention span. The highlight of my stunning PS2 lineup is Gran Turismo 4, the first game I bought with my third console (my other two had DRE's, crap). I've owned all 4 Gran Turismos, but have never had the patience to complete one. I think I may try at this one. I also own GTA vice city, but it's collecting dust. That one may leave in favor of Top Spin 2 for my 360. I need something else to play besides Rumble Roses XX, don't I?

A little less Days, a little more GH; new printer

Days of our Lives sucks. I hate it. They drag on the simplest things for nearly f***ing ever. I have three episodes from Monday sitting on my DirecTV DVR as I type this and you know what? I don't think I'm going to watch them all. My excuse was that I have nothing better to do, so I can watch every single one unlike people who actually have lives. But now it's summer, and I have the time, and I still don't want to watch the same story drag on forever. However, there is only one episode of General Hospital on there and it's from about three weeks ago because I keep putting off recording this commerciaI to my computer. Fact is, I've actually watched the rest because I know that something is actually going to happen. In one week, Luke has gone off on another adventure, Sam is shot and may be dying, DA Durant does die, bounty hunters, Alexis finds out her daughter isn't dead, and Jax's secret comes up again, but what has happened in Salem? Newlyweds Shawn and Mimi discovered in vitro fertilization! I'm definitely going to reduce things, and try not to stop watching altogether. In other news, my mom just bought an all-in-one. When these things came out whenever they did, I thought one would never be in my home. Why a new printer? Well, as we all know, printer cartridges are like $10 less than a brand new printer, and seeing as our old one connected through the parallel port and I fried the scanner a few months ago, this was an inevitability. I can't compare it to the old printer, but it owns the old scanner since it came with text recognition software...that works! Which means now I can scan in all the stories I wrote before I got this computer. And that's a lot of stories. Mostly 5-page fanfics and this 30-page WWF number when I was obsessed with Joanie Laurer. That's it for now. Also, I just saw this ad for Rooms To Go's 110th store. What's so special about store #110? What happened to store #100?

PS3...not for me

I just learned of the price of the PlayStation 3...$499. There are two prices, but the second isn't even worth mentioning because this one is out of my range. I knew I wasn't going to get one on launch day, I can never find the money on the day it comes out. But I was hoping to at least get one this year. But that's not going to be the case. In fact, I don't think I'll get one next year either. More specificially, I have to wait for some sort of price drop. That tag is just not in my budget, even if it's low for a Blu-Ray player. Besides, I'm still trying to collect all the movies I want on DVD, so there's no way I'm about to start over. I'm thinking about the guaranteed exclusives: Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Killzone; but it's just not adding up to a need for the new PlayStation. I'll stick with my Xbox 360 until the price comes down to something I can afford. It'll be fascinating to see what Fingerhut's price is...
