FC 25, dropped that costly license you had to pay every year to FIFA to use their name, so thought you'd just make a butt load more cash on releasing the same game over and over?

Glad to see it fall short. I miss the days when PES was the front-runner.

@oldtaku: Exactly as you say, a bunch of the features don't seem to be supported on PC. That's not to say they won't eventually become supported, but yeah it's a bit of a letdown.

The positive is that you can play the exclusive PSVR content on PS as well, and the price point. The PSVR2 is a seriously decent headset for the price.

Personally, I'm still rocking an OG vive. I've been wanting to upgrade to a new headset but there still hasn't been that one that made me think I absolutely need to get it. Only one I liked the look of was the BigScreen Beyond, but the price point was hefty

@oldtaku: At least with the PC adapter the PSVR2 can be used in that way now. Gives it a bit more accessibility.

@vgmkyle: The Mario movie took zero risks. Sonic took big risks and they paid off. I'm a huge fan of the films and the Knuckles TV series tickled me (Julian Barrat in yet another rock opera? perfection!)

As someone who was kind of always interested in getting a switch but never got round to it, this appeals to me greatly. The backwards compatibility means there's a nice chonky catalogue of games waiting for me on release, there's a lot of visual and technical improvements...

All they need to do is keep it within a sensible price point and they'll likely have my money (and I assume others like me)

Companies are always going to look to cut down on cost expenditure. The reason they pay their CEO 25 million a year is because he's going to do everything in his power to squeeze as much as he can from as little as he can. That means shifting work from hundreds of employees to a couple of people and a machine where possible.

Problem with AI is it's not just the invention of a single new thing... it's the invention of something with the potential to replace soooo many roles that previously needed a human. That kind of impact is going to have very adverse effects on the job market for individuals.

Big Johnny CEO won't care, he'll still be getting his 25 million in stocks bonus a year and buying that 6th holiday home. But you and me? it's gonna push down our marketable skills and our desirability in the market.

So I agree there needs to be an agreement in place, it'll probably just slow down the eventuality of these roles being done by AI in the future, but it will give the market time to shift at least, without displacing thousands of workers in a short period of time.

@marklodi: Very true. But then you open the can of worms of "you got this guy to reprise this role in its entirety, why didn't you get <person> to reprise theirs?"
Also with a game like Mass Effect... you're going to alienate a slew of fans straight off the bat just by choosing either male shep or fem shep. Having played the games to death, I preferred the game whenever I played it through as fem shep.

On one hand I was impressed with how they handled Fallout, so a video game tv series is certainly doable... on the other hand, ME is one of my all time favourite games and there's going to be parts of it that are just downright difficult to please everyone.

All said... I'm still excited for it :D

I've thoroughly enjoyed each Sonic film and the Knuckles TV show. Would be more than happy to see a 4th :D

Considering Andrew Wilson probably rakes in like 25 mil a year in salary, surely replacing his ass with AI would be a smarter move than getting rid of a bunch of creatives no?

We'll soon be at the point where games / media will have an ethical sticker on it much like fairtrade where it says it doesn't use AI so buying it supports jobs for the industry.

This shift to AI isn't in the interest of the content, it's in the interest of profit margins, and the second you start doing that, well I'm more than happy to give you $0

@realitybites: That's a good point. Given the adverts of *looks at a toaster* "This is an xbox" I think the idea was that cloud gaming was going to be the way to go for M$. They wanted to go cheap and get into as many households as possible to try and get the gamepass bought.

Cloud gaming hasn't taken off as well as people seem to have thought it might... people for the most part still want that old console experience of having a game and playing a game, sure most of the games are online now, but it's still the mindset.

Now the Xbox S is dragging down the whole development of games being ported to consoles. I can't see Microsoft agreeing to having a game ported to the X without the S... so it might be interesting to see what happens later on in the console lifecycle when we start seeing more intensive games.

Will be interesting to see how GTA6 runs on the S. I know they managed to make GTA5 run on the 360 / PS3 so anything is possible.
