I think the problem will lie in that the Wii was a gimmick, and with gimmicks you get over them quickly. The fact that the Wii was attractive initially (motion gaming was a fairly new concept for a console to employ) played into its favour along with the super budget price point of £180.
Now the reason the Wii U will fail is because I'm sure most people who bought a wii (myself included) will look to the fact that I also have a PS3, and my Wii sits under my bed collecting dust because it just isn't worth playing unless I have friends over and we're drinking.
I see where this guy is coming from, but due to his massive error in predicting how the wii would do i think he should have held his tongue. Now he just looks like a anti-nintendo idiot.
Yes I agree with him, I think the wii U will fail, but the guy is still an idiot. "Yes the wii got lucky, but the Wii U won't" 5 years later he'll be saying the Wii U got lucky too if it is a success :p
@Sparty_On Well you must be easily pleased. I for one need to see significant improvement over the previous game to warrant spending money on it. Madden I feel has actually declined in their options in latest iterations (gameplay has improved slightly) but again not enough for me to buy it.
@Sparty_On @jagdedge124 Learn to research. Fifa 12 sold 11 million copies compared to Madden 12 selling 5 million. Then there's things like how Fifa 12 had the biggest opening sales in sports game history etc. It's painfully apparent that Fifa is where EA make their money, and it's shown in the development.
Deadpool is my all time favourite comic character... this game will be hilarious if it plays true to the comics :D However I hope there'll be some semblence of a story and not just level after level of fighting, one-liners and gags... hopefully there'll be plenty of cameos from other Marvel characters too (who wouldn't want to have a fight with a jealous Thanos, or have Wolverine swinging at you with his claws as you ask him for a short back and sides)
And yes there is a similarity between Deadpool and duke nukem in that they both use guns and have a smart mouth, but hopefully that's as far as it goes. I consider Deadpool to have a bit more substance about him...
I haven't had an NCAA game since 08, and not had a madden game since 09. Funnily enough I queue at my local supermarket at midnight to buy fifa on release day EVERY year, and usually i'm met with one to two hundred other people with the same idea, so clearly Fifa is doing something right.
The reason Fifa became the king of football simulation games? Great competition provided by Pro evo (of which i used to buy over Fifa until 08). Look at the Madden and NCAA franchises... what competition do they have to motivate them to produce more than just the bland, regurgitated roster updates they provide every year. Nothing.
I remember playing the ESPN nfl 2k5 and thinking it was infinitely better than madden. First person view, the professional ESPN type game intros and halftime shows... the plethora of different modes. That was a game that put everything out there and did so in a magnificent way. When was the last time you played Madden and truly thought "Wow, that was really impressive"
@pazshepard not a bad list (lol at dyanmite headdy... that game was fun) but you didn't include star ocean 2 :p Other than that it's a pretty solid list.
I believe that music along with a solid story can make or break a game... I think back to all my all time favourite games, and the sound tracks are epic. Meaning that clearly music plays a much bigger role in gaming than I ever reallyed acredited it. I own multiple OSTs on cd (FF, SO, MGS to name a few) so yeah, I do love good music in games. The best is yet to come from MGS is a classic, the chocobo theme from FF series is instantly recognisable. Try and find me something like that from modern games, you can't XD Probably why i play a bunch of older games more than the newer ones.
@Petnos @Kingdomkey33 you have to remember that in terms of power this console is going to be at about the level of the Box 360 and ps 3. So they're going to market the controller big time. Otherwise you would just be buying a redundant console.
@Kingdomkey33 @Ayato_Kamina_1 The price has been speculated. Look at what the controller is going to incorporate. 6.2 inch screen, motion control, a camera, microphone, speakers and vibration technology. That's not going to be cheap.
