My eVGA GTX 285 has been able to max all my games out so far(The Witcher, Empire:Total War, Warhammer: Dawn of War II, Civ 4, and CoD:WaW. Just got CoH today, havent tried it yet) And I game on 1920 x 1200 with lowest fps being on CoD which was like 30 something I think. And I havent even OC it. But now this card runs around 75 Con Empire which I guess is nothing to worry about. Other than that, I havent had any problems with it.

[QUOTE="jenna12x"]From what I've been reading, some people liken what I'm actually after to "Japanese-style survival horror" (for lack of a better term)... Rituals, weird things and story, not just Halo with the lights turned off. (Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, Parasite Eve are all obviously Japanese, and AitD4 (not Japanese) can be closely compared with some of their aspects.)

Fatal Frame, I thought that was one of the scariest games I have ever played. That game literally had me on the edge of my seat constantly monitoring everything around me as I was playing it. I wish they would make a sequel to it.

Oh, and on the Battlefield 2 question? get that over the sci fi version (cant remember the year of that title) BF2 may be old but it is still awesome fun, the shooting mechanics from smallarms (rifles and such when on foot) is not very good, but the tanks, helis, and other feels great, and it is awesome when 2 teams of 32 players thunder together in an allout war. BF2 is cheap now, and it is nearly as big of a must as the HL series is on a pc. Some people has problems with BF2 on vista tho (altho I felt no problems at all).

BF2 is not what I call a typical FPS either, while you only control yourself, the mentality in that game reminds me more of a RTS game.

What is the sci fi version, I was looking at Battlefield 2 Complete for $30.00. And it came out in 2007 so the graphics cant be that outdated right? And Crysis Maximum Edition is on my other hand. So which one first? Or do I get Stalker or The Last Remnant?

Get Fallout 3. It's RPG, it's action and it's one of the best games of last year.

spidey0102
I played it on the 360 and YES, one of the best games I have ever played. And that is an understatement.

[QUOTE="Maddie_Larkin"]

When I say Basic, I talk about the graphics, and effects in the game :P

Altho you could look into the old "Gold Label" for Amiga (alså a bunch of DnD games, (eye of the beholder comes to mind, and the origonal pool of radiance)).

and if you compare Icewind Dale, and Baldurs game to modern rpgs, they are indeed very basic, they shaved off a great deal of rules of the PnP game, and they jumped some corners here and there, altho I still think theyre very good (otherwise I would not recommend them) I think that NWN was better executed rulewise, altho it did not follow them too much either.

But we ARE talking about a game so basic that the backgrounds/surroundings were handdrawn and not built, and the characters had minimal visual ques.

on the plus side I do not think any pc out there would NOT be able to run them ^^ and due to thier very basic nature they pretty much run on anything you throw it at :)

Also: Fallout came out the year before and quite frankly blew my mind both in detail, and execution compared to BG.

o.k so what rpg are you recommending for todays standards' maybe stalker, ive heard good things about it
