The gamecube Tales game was simply amazing in my opinion. It's one of the few RPG's I had played through something like 5+ times.
If I had to choose this or Smash, I would choose Tales 2 no question.
To memory, first game for any system I played.
Atari : Pole Position (first game ever, not bad at all for the time)
Commodore 64: Jumpman (Good game, Jumpman JR was better but soo hard)
NES: Mario Bros
SNES: Don't remember, probably Mario 3 or Zelda:Link to the Past
N64: Goldeneye 007
Gamecube: Eternal Darkness
Wii: Wii Sports then Zelda I'm sure is the case for most wii owners
Gameboy: Zelda:Link to the Past
DS: Brain Age
PC: Scorched Earth
RE4 is a far superior single player experience and overall game.
RE:UC is a great two player game, one player its fun and challenging but really falls under the 'pick up and play' game where you wouldn't put much time into compared to RE4.
Good call on Gladius and Eternal Darkness, I totally agree.
Ikaruga
Otherwise I was huge fan of RE4 and Tales of Symphonia (I think a tales sequal is official now).
They need to continue attracting new gamers, both old and young, as well as those females.
Nintendo has done a good job here, you mentioned wii sports and this coming year wii play. They also have the brain age and warioware series. Nintendo is doing an excellent job of catering to this market beyond price tag, it doesn't seem to show signs of stopping.
They need to remove the image of Nintendo being for "kids" and "babies"
This one is tough to do especially when all their major franchise games have that stigma even if they don't warrant it. For Nintendo to do this they'd really have to up their marketing on adult driven games. Any smart Nintendo gamer knows there are several mature rated games that come out on any given Nintendo system, but this messege isn't sent to the general public. (Wii already has Manhunt 2, Resident Evil 4 and RE:UC if not more)
They need to provide innovation to set an example to other competitors.
I believe this has been happening as well. Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 have done a great job of showing how to use the controls on the system. In fact, Medal of Honor Heroes 2 has apparently improved on that design and so they are showing each other. Games like Warioware and Wii Play are showing this innovation once more. Brawl is innovating as well in showing what can be put into a game and the online content that can go into one.
Unless Nintendo does a major shift in how they operate, they seem to be following all of this nicely.
