I have a weak memory about Mario beeing Luigis father in that movie......

Oh and ive got a quote from an interwiew of a nintendo executive in 1988:

"Are Mario and Luigis last name Mario?"

"No"

"Then why are they called the mario brothers?"

"Chuckles* Some questions are better left unasked."

Personally i consider the Mario brothers last name to be Segali. Mario Segali and Luigi Segali. Since it was the last name of Nintendo of Americas Landlord; Mario Segali. Which Mario is based on.

Okay, Halo did surely did have its impact on console fps... but the single greatest franchise in gaming history? Cmon!

So i guess franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy etc. are not greater than a franchise which is a little...nnnh..Generic?

A tall space Marine saves the galaxy and Earth from fanatic aliens... Heard this before? Moi? I think not...

Mario did the same thing you know, and he wasn't a seven foot tall space marine!!

pant* pant* ....Okay its a completely okay franchise, but its just a liiitle overrated. Thats it.

"Duuuh! Whats Zelda and Mario then!?" you ask.

"They migth be overrated, but not as much as Halo, and their impact on gaming was MUCH larger." I answer.

There already is.

MonkeyPulp

I wonder how much one of those are worth today? According to that wikipedia page only 1500 were sold. I'm gonna check Ebay

There is one on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-64DD-64-DD-console-system-import-japan-jp-n64_W0QQitemZ300359998816QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games?hash=item45eed9dd60

15 000, not 1500

Yeah i knew about that one, but it only used a strange electromagnetic disc that was not much different from the 500 m cartiridge, although it was much cheaper to produce.

What i meant was that i wanted to see an N64 with a real cd-drive... like the playstation. And seeing what it was already capable to do with with cartridges, it would have been intresting to see how it would have turned out wit a real CD drive.

I agree with your choices. As for me... well it is a good bunch, but if i have to prezizise; Most music from Chrono Trigger, espicially the song that plays in the woods outside guardia castle.

Super Mario 64: Fantastic songs wich gives me a nostalgic kick. Espicially the one that plays in Dire Dire Docks

Zelda OoT: Just about everything.

Mario land series and gameboy music in general: Thoose beeps coming out of the gameboy are just gorgeous. Nice examples on this are the star Maze music in Mario Land 2 and the battle theme for Pokemon Yellow.

...Yea, thats my personal picks. There are some more, but i aint gonna keep you with my blabbering :)

Definiately. But cut the touch control, just use the button layout, it would have worked pretty well. I'd can't be that hard to make either, heck they could just take smb64 add a little extra and uptate the graphics and voila! Perfection!

I think just about any Mario 2D platformer does it for me. I also enjoyed Sonic 2, Mega Man 2 aaand... Henry Hatsworth in the puzzling adventure.

I kind of like both, but i like the Japanese smb2 more. The fake smb2 offers quite interesting level design and focuses a lot on teqnice, while the Japanese smb2 offers some of the hardest, coolest level design ever in a Mario game. I think it's better than the first smb and about halfway as good as smb3, which is a lot. hehe.

Does anyone remember the beta version of Super Mario Sunshine? The area it contained was a huge urban part of delfino island and to be honest, it looked much better than the final product. Could it have turned out to be the first sandbox mario game if Nintendo had decided to go with this version? It also contained humans. I think i saw a beta video once of Mario kart 64 where the magikoopa had stars on it's outfit aswell.
