Good point, Bob. I do wonder when they are developing new hardware (lets say it's ready to play late 2015) if they'd want to announce it as early as possible. Do you want to shift momentum and get third party on board, or do you want to make sure people continue to buy the Wii U?

Hard to say what direction they go in, at this point.

One of the most puzzling decisions of 2013 was for Nintendo to play doormat at E3 while Sony and MS showed off new consoles. Being in desperate need for some good publicity, do you guys think they'll have an E3 presentation?

Obviously, it's still a few months away but its interesting to think about.

These things always make me lol. If I took all of the insider predictions that one console or the other was doomed to fail, we would have about negative 1000 consoles by now. This isn't an industry of failure, for the most part. These guys continue to produce for a reason: they all (with the exception of Nintendo, recently) make money, and lots of it.

As a Wii U owner, I'm not even sure that I'd mind if Nintendo wanted to be proactive and just shut it down with the Wii U. Or even better, why not just do something new (and more technologically sound) and treat them as separate entities? The Wii U is great for someone who wants a cheap console and wants to play games casually.

Why not hop on the massive train that is "hardcore" gaming? PS4/XBone sales are skyrocketing. There is room in the market for another console at the very least. I guess I don't understand what they are trying to do, and I especially don't understand why they are afraid of changing from something that is obviously not working.

@Randolph: So just have a single, portable console? Would it be a successor to the 3DS, or will they just put their focus on the 3DS?

As someone who doesn't know much about these things, I have a couple of questions...

1) What are the odds this is the last Nintendo home-console released?

2) If it is the last home-console released, would they continue to produce games such as Mario/Zelda/Metroid, etc. for other consoles?

3) If it isn't there last home-console, what are the chances they cut their losses and begin development on a new, more standard gaming console?

God, I really have no idea. Dark Souls was my favorite RPG of all time. I love the Witcher series, and the videos/hype have me extremely anxious for that to come out. So why am I so excited for Dragon Age? Maybe it's because the gameplay I've seen looks like a great mix of the two games' (DS and W2) combat. Bioware usually puts together a strong story, so that would be a nice tack on to an open world RPG.

I still voted Witcher 3, because that seems like more of a sure thing to me. It also has the excitement of "next gen" that DS II doesn't have.

I've bought four systems in the past year: a PS4, an Xbone, a Wii U, and a 3DS. I've been happiest with the 3DS, and it's not even close. A well deserved pick.

Bummed that there hasn't been a Next-Gen version yet. For whatever reason, I've always hated Minecraft PC, so I'm really hoping the new versions of the game has the same sort of expanded features that the PC version has.
