Is it worth playing the Witcher 1 or will I be able to jump straight into the second one and understand what's going on?

Been a Playstation gamer for years but have finally got me an ok gaming laptop. Can't wait to try this game out. Can anybody recommend anything else? so far got Portal 1 & 2, Hotline Miami, Super Meat Boy & Bastion.

Pre-ordered at game and they sold out! before I got there. None of the stores expected it to be such a hit

@TheAgingGamer @Beardof_Zeus456 Gun control was my point (not very well made in hindsight). As an outsider to the US I'd say things that need to be looked at are the ease with which guns can be bought (no easy task as they have become part of the countries culture) & mental health. However I live in the UK so I don't get all the different sides to argument over here.
