[QUOTE="BlackFlagX"]There is no strategy in RTS games because they all focus on a same thing and that is field combat, thus every RTS labeled as RTS is in fact RTT unless they contain strategy element like superpower, HOI and total war strategy phase and few others.. thus your question doesn't mean anything nowBlackAlpha666

With tactics alone, you do not accomplish anything. You need a combination of strategy and tactics to be able to achieve something. Strategy can be as complex as commanding whole military divisions around a continent. On the other hand, strategy can be as simple as maneuvering an infantry squad around the battlefield or creating a battle plan for a small military force. Without strategy, you cannot win a battle; Without tactics, you cannot win an engagement. Or like a famous person once said: "Without strategy, you have no need for tactics, for you will not get an opportunity to perform them." Yes, that famous person was me... :P

So, my point is that every RTS game involves at least some degree of strategy or else you probably wouldn't even be able to do simple things. For example, like moving your units around. They would just be stuck, unable to move anywhere.

So build order is strategy then? Because everything else is just unit engagement... In my opinion strategy is long term decisions while tactics is short term, and I don't see much games focusing on more then just unit engagement ;)

None of the suggested games above have community bigger then 100 players but WC3...

Try Zero Hour, this one should have still big community also SupCom:FA has a LOT players and I saw AoE2 playing by many people.

WiC has some great MP too, the campaign is epic, but if you play it on hard you will finish it in one day, it's not that AI is bad,it is that campaign is movie like, MP is fine as long as you have buddy to play with

For as much as I love homeworld I somehow couldn't grasp SOSE, will give it a try soon again

Btw do you really want to spend money for one of these games? You can wait for Men of War, or try some value pack where you can get a better deal if you're a RTS/RTT fun, I think you can get both CoH and all old Dows for the price of one of these game am I right!? Also SupCom+FA cost nothing now and have way bigger community then all of the games above, IMHO WiC and SOSE are way overrated althought they are good..

Man I love these tactical games, even those more unit based like FSW or Fallout tactics... perfect..

I just finished the demo, it has nice difficulty unlike the rest of the herd, good sign, will buy this one, hope it will be on steam soon.. btw you can buy soldiers heroes of ww2 for like 5e on steam now ;) Also it has low pc requirements, maybe I can run it on my work laptop... good too

can anyone recommend me similar games like soldiers of anarchy, FSW, WiC etc? Something really tactical, not those wannabe RTS games.. (got tired of the ganre)
