Other games skipping Wii U:

Grand Theft Auto V
The Witcher 3
Watch Dogs
Tomb Raider
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Star Wars 1313
Battlefield 4
Madden 14
Tiger Woods 14
NCAA Football 14
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
South Park: The Stick of Truth

Great console that Wii U is...

720OwnsPS4

YOu know whats even better.... the fact that I'll be able to enjoy any game on that list of yours... and the next Mario Kart, 3D Mario Platformer, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, etc.

.... ahhh.... such a good time not to be a stupid fanboy.

If you still like Nintendo games. Most people grow out of them.

I remember what it's like to be 12. One day you'll understand. People play Nintendo games because they're some of the highest quality games anywhere, the fact that you see more than brown and grey and class it as a kiddy game really proves that you appreciate graphics more than good gameplay; in which case, why not just watch a movie?

Also, this has nothing to do with Irrational purposefully skipping the Wii U, we've all seen that Ken Levine loves the idea of the Wii U controller and has said that he has plans to make use of it in whatever he's making next, the issue is that Bioshock Infinite has been in development for like 4 years and porting it to Wii U is way too much work and will delay the game for way too long. This goes with lots of other 3rd party games. The Rayman incident is quite an anomaly, which is why people are kicking up a fuss, hell even developers who worked on the game were on Twitter complaining about it, saying that they're angry that their crunch period leading up to release was all for nothing, because now they have to work even more on the game to put it on 360 and ps3 which is a huge amount of work.

I'd be more worried about the money-sieve that is sony that can't afford another failure, or the kinectbox.

Well any sensible person with a brain would get a PS4 after the juggernaut PS3.

Duckyindiana

So I take it you won't be getting a PS4 then!

Hideki Kamiya practically begged Nintendo to let him make it, if they dont let Platinum do it i would laugh.

crimsonman1245

I would cry. I still can't figure out why Nintendo seems to hate money so much. There are so many opportunities that would be guaranteed moneymakers, but they ignore them.

Flameshield activated

I wouldn't mind seeing something like Ratchet and Clank (which would basically be star fox assault 2) infact i would prefer it to a game that only had flying levels. then again i'm not really a starfox fan.

AsadMahdi59

I'd consider myself quite a fan, and I agree with you. If on-foot was done well, with weapons that were fun, it could be an absolutely awesome game. I'm not ignoring the flying levels, I believe that there should definitely be on-rails Arwing missions, because those are awesome, but I believe that the game should also mix up the formula a little. SF Assault had some quite awesome weapons which, yes, needed more balancing, but they were still quite good. The ability to go from vehicle to on-foot and back to vehicle was awesome.

Basically imagine a Star Fox game, that's story doesn't suck, 4 player co-op (how has this not been done yet?) on-foot controls like uncharted, flying controls like either Halo Reach's flying level or Halo 4's last level, more vehicles to be introduced and a multiplayer aspect.

The way that Command treated story made me so angry. There were 8 abysmal endings and 1 okay-but-not-great ending. Gameplay was entertaining but the story and the characters felt completely wrong.

Not naming it the Wii 2.

TheEpicGoat

This or basically calling it anything else. Wii U confuses customers into thinking it's like kinect or move, whereas it's an entirely new console. The thing I think was the stupidest decision is the absense of an internal/removable hard drive. Flash memory simply doesn't cut it, there's not enough on the system. How are you supposed to download a library of full retail games onto 32gb of space?

For clarity, I think that the Wii U is going to dominate this upcoming generation of consoles, because sony is so close to failure that if they have another ps3 on their hands, I don't see how they will dig themselves out and microsoft looks like it's going to be even more money-grubbing and casual focused because of the built in kinect and the latest rumors of forced xbox live, forced use of kinect 2, specs of the console that will price it out reach and that cool, but wildly impractical illumiroom concept. I think ms is going to charge through the nose for their next xbox.

On top of this,
1. the Wii U is actually selling quite well, despite what people think. It's sales are fairly close to what the Wii was selling at, but I don't believe that anyone will be able to replicate the Wii's sales.

2. Nintendo is in talks with lots of 3rd party developers (mostly japanese devs atm) about giving them the reigns to their first party titles, and giving them some developers to help out with developing them. The first we're seeing of this is that Fire Emblem and some other game crossover title. I believe that this strategy is Nintendo's way of attracting 3rd party attention. If a 3rd party gets free reign to make a new F Zero or Metroid or Star Fox, we could see some serious sales for 3rd parties, thus attracting more attention to the platform.

3. The Wii U is going to have at least a year on the market ahead of sony and microsoft, meaning that the Wii U should be getting some seriously good quality titles at the time of ps4 and xbox whatever's launch, which we all know is going to be full of mediocrity, launches always are. A year on the market proved to keep the xbox 360 alive and really pushed it to get 3rd party support because it was so much earlier than the ps3 and Wii.

I'm sure there's other reasons too, but this is a wall of text already and doesn't need to become the next Berlin Wall.

The Wii was the ps2 of this generation. Other than that, seems mostly right.

So, amidst the announcements that coupled with the leaked xbox specs makes it seem like the console race is already at gg with the big N at #1, I noticed that they talked briefly about their partnership strategy where they're willing to let 3rd Parties that partner with them and utilize Nintendo franchises. When I thought about this for a minute, it sounds like Nintendo has finally found a hook to get 3rd parties to finally develop for their system. It's no secret that 3rd parties have never really focused much on the Nintendo system, but by the looks of it with Bayonetta 2 coming ONLY to Wii U, it sounds like Nintendo has got 3rd party attention. What this could easily mean is Wii U could become 3rd party dev console of choice, because they're not only allowed to use Nintendo IPs, they're able to get the big N to help them out developing the game. even if that's just for porting, that's just easy money for devs.

Coupled with Miiverse, Smartphone integration and the overall attention Nintendo appears to have paid to current trends, I firmly believe that Nintendo is about to become even more of a juggernaut than it already is. (This is not even talking about the new tech the controller uses and the still new hardware that devs haven't fully utilized yet in the console)

As I said before, apart from an absurd amount of RAM, the xbox 720 looks to be about 1.3x stronger than the Wii U, which is exactly as underwhelming for lems as it sounds, meaning that ports should be very doable for the Wii U. I'm not trying to start a system wars here, but I believe that my numbers are reasonably accurate.

Tl;dr: Nintendo's partnering strategy with 3rd parties is exactly the hook that 3rd parties need to jump aboard the Nintendo train.

If Sony's laptops use Windows...

Same story. Companies do allow other people to make stuff for them y'know.

Look at Samsung and apple. Samsung makes heaps of parts of the iphone, but look who got sued their asses off.

Get rid of that "true" bullsh!t.

You play games? You're a gamer.

Just as much as I am, or the poster above or below me. It's that simple.

If you enjoy playing video games, if you play video games. PLAY GAMES.

=

Gamer.

MLBknights58
This. Games have become a huge part of entertainment, so just play games you enjoy. If you don't like the game, put it down and don't play it. If you find something out about the game that makes you want to come back and play it, go back to it. For example, I hate skyrim. I think it's a glitchy mess that has no focus, direction, story, world interaction and feels like a whole lot of boring NPCs which I don't care about and terrible combat and AI to fight. Oh and the graphics suck so there's no reason there either. However, that's my opinion and I played a fair amount of it but didn't want to spend all my time in what I believe to be a hiking simulator with the ability to skip to places you've been to already. I won't go back to it just because other people say it's good because I found nothing in it worthy of my time. On the other hand, I'd ask that you give Halo 3 a go if you want to play a great FPS. Anniversary isn't on quite as grand a scale as Halo 3 is, however the key thing most people miss in Halo is it's story. Turn on subtitles as soon as you can, and really listen to the characters, sometimes it takes 1 or 2 playthroughs to truly understand, but I felt the Halo universe to be really quite awesome.

Look into Kameo, then Fight Night and Oblivion and you can see how long it took to get heavy-hitting gfx showpieces on 360.

gamecubepad
Lol back when they originally came out they were technically impressive, then they were quickly overshadowed. I remember when Halo 3 was one of the prettiest games ever, now you go back and play it and it's below average at best. Oblivion looked awful and Kameo had some fun little effects here and there, but was mostly relatively bland and unimpressive.
