Since you are just way too cool, why don't you go and play football in real life? I personally think that the PS3 and the 360 are too advanced for you and that you would be better amused by something like a toaster.

First question: How have you managed to keep that name for so long?

That and get a PS3. It's a lot cheaper in the long-run.
You don't have to pay for Live, batteries, and Wi-Fi. Also, has a better library in my opinion, and no Red Ring of Death.
thanks a lot, g-slice
now what shooter/action games are worth buying? have they fixed Socom: Confrontation?
as for my screen name, well, I had this rash when I signed up... eh, it's a long story
Sorry to interrupt your War of Worldcraft arguments, but I asked my girlfriend to buy me a PS3 for my birthday. All I play are sports games and the occasional first or third person shooter. The PS3 is more expensive, but seems more durable. I've had my PS2 for about ten years, and still play it with no problem whatsoever. My Xbox, on the other hand, has had to be fixed a couple of times since I've had it... And I played Madden 09 for 360 and absolutely hated the controls. Had a difficult time hot routing, with audibles, changing players, and overall executing button management since I'm so immune to Sony, etc.
I suppose my question is which system should I buy? I know the 360 is cheaper, and has a wider selection of games, but I am playing sports games 90% of the time which I assume are all multi-platform, so if there is a shooter game or two that could keep me occupied in the meantime, I see no reason in asking for the 360 instead. I heard the new Socom games suck ass, but maybe they have fixed it with patches? I absolutely love the Socom games on PS2, and I can play the COD type games on my PC. So, Xbox nerds, why would the 360 be better for me, personally? And PS3 nerds, what shooter/action games are worth buying? Also, being forced to pay for online play is also a major bummer.
And don't get offended, I am a nerd, too. :)
AOEIII is the only game I've ever played on Mac, and I love it. Too bad I can't get it to work on my damn PC. All I get is some "0058" error.
Ok, a Mac is no good for gaming, but it has its purpose. If you are the creative type, you can edit a movie in mp4 and compose your own soundtrack right out of the box. Plus, the OS is rock solid and comes with a lot of other cool gizmos that Microsoft and the Open Source community are busy trying to copy. Crap server stuff? It's unix, baby. The web, ssh, and "other techie stuff" you mentioned for Linux are all completely 100% compatible with OS X, plus you get a nice GUI that never crashes or gets mucked up. They aren't great for gaming, but they are far from good for nothing. The rock solid OS and never crash thing is a bit exaggerated, ive had bad experience with macs. Especially copying a large PSD file to usb and then getting the spinning wheel of death meaning i lost some of my work :([QUOTE="zaphod_b"][QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]Why do people like Macs? There is nothing good about them. Let's see here Windows = has all software, runs ok, can run activery directory services for domains. Linux = useful for servers, apache servers, ssh servers, and a giant load of other techie stuff. Macs are based off of Unix, so are Macs. Macs = ??? Good for nothing! Can't play windows software, crap server stuff, it has special effects when I open a window? Guess what On my Jaunty laptop I got a cube desktop with super effects. sammysalsa
The whole macs are better for creative people is also a moot / opinionated argument and can be argued one way or another so you shouldn't use that a pro for macs either.
I've had the same Powerbook G4 for the past 8 years, and never has it once crashed on me. In terms of reliability & user-friendliness, the Mac wins by a long shot. Macs are much more fun to do everyday normal activities such as browsing, etc. But they are also ideal for music production, which is why I refuse to sell mine after I built this PC.
My next computer will be a 24" G5.
I have both and I love both equally, but I agree with what has been said... if you're buying a computer for gaming purposes, a Mac is NOT the way to go.
theyre called RTS usually. Here some in the genre ive played: Dawn Of War command and conquer Supreme Commander age of mythology empire earth but the best for me at the moment is Company of Heroes.wurd
ah well this method is quickly becoming a thing of the past as people enjoy the idea of realism in games. id suggest earth assault, command and conquer, dawn of war, red alert, and supreme commander franchise all to you. id hesitate to suggest warcraft 3 as the hero system is trash and the lack of structures and resource management in CoH and dawn of war 2 would probably turn you off to the concept of an rts with more fighting than management.

thanks, homies. You've really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff out there, as well as refreshed my memory. That Dawn of War crap seems too much like World of Warcraft, though, which I despise. I've made up my mind, and I'm going to get Company of Heroes (which looks badass), Age of Mythology, World in Conflict, and Men of War. I'm gonna' hold off on Empire Earth for now. I know it'd be pretty fun, just looks too 98ish.
Any more modern day war strategy-type games with good graphics & interaction (such as the Sudden Strike series)? How about an AoE clone? Preferably not sci-fi? thanks
