I'm a huge fan of the games Dice makes, but they really screwed up BF3. It all starts with the no private matches.... How do say you want to dominate a niche, but not even offer basic stuff that we enjoy...

Relax the game is still very very young. It takes a long time for games to reach their peak in terms of elements and fixes like this. Im sure BF2 wasn't the golden stunner it is now when it launched. Things have to get feedback to be fixed so people enjoy it

Um... No. Private matches has nothing to do with being a young game. They chose not to add it. What about servers dividing parites? They game is great, but lacks basic features that have been in FPS games for years. This game isn't mind blowing and revolutionary for the gaming community so...

I played it and like it, but don't care for the flying. I guess I'm just old school when it comes to FPS..

Its funny you say you're old school because the mechanics in tribes are old school (the previous tribe games are over 10 years old) :)

Haha I agree, but I don't like it. If it was vehicles only or something else I would be.

I have the same thing going on with my Win 7 64 bit. I can't figure it out. I even turned off automatic defrag and it still turns on. I just turn off my monitor at night now and if it turns on the screen wont wake me up.

Another thing to consider is that there are two bands N runs on. Basic N runs on 2.4 ghz and the other runs on 5ghz. They say the 5ghz band is less prone to interference and gets better throughput.

Thats because all the cordless phones use 2.4Ghz, they interfere.

Also if you put DD-WRT on that router, and mess around with linux a bit, you can change which specific antenna is dedicated for N and which for G (assuming that router has multiple antennas).

People still use landlines? :P

I know right! lol

I'm so pleased to see someone interested in my favorite genre! :)

Here are some options available:

-Quake Live (free with a premium model; healthy number of players in both NA and EU)

-Quake 3 (not as alive as QL from what I have heard, but a fair number of people still play... from what I've heard; it's all about the mods...)

-Quake 4 (it's okay, but no one plays in comparison to QL, which 99% find a better game anyway)

-Unreal Tournament '99 (still a very large player base)

-Unreal Tournament 2004 (still a pretty big player base, not sure how it is in comparison to '99 though)

-Xonotic (an open-source, community-driven fork of the Nexuiz project -- Google is your guide, it would take too long to explain in this list)

-Sauerbraten (mostly instagib, but it has a decent number of players and it is pretty fun all around)

-Fortress Forever (absolutely SUPERB rendition of Team Fortress Cl@ssic in the Source engine; if you have any Source games it is free to download, and it has a wonderful, bustling community of passionate, dedicated, and competitive individuals who all love the game to death. I can't recommend this game enough. I mean, no joke -- can't recommend this game enough. It has become my favorite in only a little over a month).

-Alien Arena (similar to Unreal Tournament, and open source)

-Urban Terror (more of a cross between Quake 3 and Counter-Strike; well worth checking out, it has a massive community)

That's from the top of my head. Bolded and colored are my personal favorites.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna look into them.
