The problem is, of course, that we have to assume these people know everything there is to know about how the brain works and how we interpret our environment.
But . . . they don't.
I'd be surprised if they even know 5% of what's going on, yet they state their conclusions as absolute fact - which is impossible.
When Carmack said that the specs they've given out are "essentially the same", that's when I knew he doesn't even know what the specs are. It's obvious that there is a large difference in the RAM and the GPU.
He's talking out his *** to get publicity.

Have you been watching Gamespot segments like "Feedbackula"?
When Biware became nothing more than ***** propaganda, I was done with them.
Microsoft - Your messaging isn't your problem - shut your mouth and change your policies. . . . and your PRISM support . . .. and your horrible Windows 8 OS.
On current gen, "You don't get the same sense of the crowd".
More than anything else, that is why I'm looking forward to the PS4. The problem with current gen games is that cities, and open worlds feel empty and desolate, because they don't have the computing power to generate lots of characters.
This is going to change all that. I'm actually excited for gaming again.
