An easy solution with excellent sound is the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. Look around: They are extremely well-regarded by both your average Joe and audiophiles at their price point. You can also go the DIY (do it yourself) route and purchase your amplifier, sub, speakers, and wiring separately via Parts Express. It requires more effort, but you'll get much better audio in the end. If you want to go this route, either I or another one of the forum regulars will outline the budget system. If you absolutely must have surround sound, let us know, and we'll figure something out in your budget. What was that, again? Happy gaming, Boz

I expected the facepalm. I read it after purchasing it.

To be honest, I love the performance of the headset. I dearly avoid the horrid stereo mode of this headset. I always have it at 7.1 and tweaked through sound card to play music beautifully.

Ah, well you've got a good excuse if you didn't read the FAQ until after you'd purchased it! The important thing is that you're happy with it. :) Happy gaming, Boz

The following is assuming this is for a 5.1 setup. The red speakers are front right, center, and left. The green boxes are your surround speakers. The yellow box is your sub, which you can put anywhere.

Ideally you would want your surrounds above and to the side of wherever you are sitting, pointing inward or backward, but you may need to mount them to the rear wall since you do not have a wall on your left when you are facing the television. If you mount them to the rear wall, point them in the direction of the television.

It's not ideal, but real-world rooms are rarely ideal. This setup should work very nicely.

Two questions: Is the room carpeted? Where are the windows, if any? Happy gaming, Boz

At first glance I would guess you plugged a speaker into the wrong 3.5mm output on your computer. Go back and double-check that they are all connected to the correct outputs. Good luck! Boz

$40 for Logitech 5.1 surround sound. Spend than $960 on something better. what a joke.

Nothing you have said makes any sense.

Would you care to explain what you were saying? Or asking? Or adding? Or whatever it was you were trying to do? :P

Why don't you take a look at the Head-Fi Summer Buying Guide. They have a lot of very good in-ear recommendations; maybe one of them is available in your area! Happy gaming, Boz

I like the concept, deeply dislike the people that abuse it for greed.koospetoors
Now this is interesting: How do you gauge this? At least in corporate America, the goal of any public company is to maximize profits. Is every developer abuse and greedy, then, or is there a point at which the transition is made from reasonable profit to abusive pricing to players? Happy gaming, Boz
