Keep in mind that he (she? I'll say "he" for sake of simplicity) wants to use it with his PS3. The best way to be able to use headphones and a mic with your PS3 and PC is going to be via the Astro Mixamp. It's a pretty decent little piece of equipment for gamers on both a console and a PC. The Ultrasone's are highly regarded for a closed-back headphone, though if you're using them for music, movies, and FPS games you might want to consider an open-back headphone like the AKG Q701's or Sennheiser HD598's. They will give you a better soundstage and more accurate positional audio via Dolby Headphone in FPS games. The HD598's are also among the better looking headphones out there, in my opinion, and super comfortable. If you have a lot of ambient noise in your gaming space or if you want to block out ambient noise, though, stick with the Ultrasones. Happy gaming, Boz

Greetings:

This thread is for discussion of how MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) games like League of Legends and Super Monday Night Combat would work for a Community Game Night.

DOTA2dasf_60321_embed.jpg

Since these games are typically 5 vs. 5 skirmishes, my concern is how we can organize everyone should more than 10 people show (fewer than 10 people can be filled with random players without issue). Having 12 people leaves two people as the odd-(wo)men out.

Happy gaming,

Boz

it is slowing the site down, it is why we have Bonk! and it hurts Gamespot more and more everyday.jediknight52501
I'd love to see Fuse removed. It bifurcates the site, splitting member time into another channel of communication that was never really needed. It detracts from more productive outlets of conversation, such as blogs, the forums, and comments in news and reviews, and brings more junk posts like pictures of lolcats and MLP:FiM. I'd like to see increased focus on Community Game Night, though that's more of a pet project than it is directly related to Fuse. That said, I don't think that will ever, ever happen. Polls have shown that there are a lot of users that like the medium. It has social media support lacking in other areas of the site, and there is a big push to increase traffic through these outlets. If anything I would expect Fuse to be refined in ways that make it more useful to the rest of the site. It was too big a development cost to be so easily dismissed. Happy gaming, Boz

Not sure why people would reccomend grado when you returned the v6 cause of treble try out the Brainwavz HM5 or KRK 8400 for closed headphones.

DJ_Headshot
I recommend the Grado because his issue was sibilance, not treble (sibilance makes the "S" sound more snake-like, a problem common to metal dome tweeters), and he previously liked the sound of his open-back Super Lux 681. The Grado's have a much more refined upper frequency response than the MDR V6 without being overbearing, in my experience. I never heard of Branwavz, thanks for introducing me to the brand! In that price range I normally recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50, but I'll check those out. Happy gaming, Boz

I use this one, because I think it's comfier to have the arc go around the neck rather than over the headhttp://slua.com/wp-content/uploads/logitech_headset.jpg

Does anyone know of any other headsets similar to this one? The only one I know about is Logitech's.

Nintendo_Fan128
Sennheiser, Creative, and Plantronics all have behind-the-neck headsets, though I cannot vouch for or against any of them. If you're looking for something with higher quality audio, start with the Sennheisers. Happy gaming, Boz

I'd be torn between The V-Moda M80's, Sennheiser HD598's, and Beyerdynamic DT770's, but I think I haven't discovered my favorite headphones, yet. I still want to try the Denon AHD2000's and the V-Moda M100's when they're released in the next couple months.

"best sound quality" =/= "Dr Dre"

NVIDIATI
I've read a few good things about the Dre earbuds, though I believe they're overpriced relative to their competition from internet rhetoric. You have to be careful not to get so down on a brand you miss out on the gems like the Skullcandy Aviators or the new Monster IEMs, the former I've really enjoyed and latter I've read positive acclaim from multiple reputable sources, including Head-Fi. I saw this is coming out for PS3 on October 1st

I'll be honest: I like Sony's PS3 headphones for PS3 users. They're actually very nice, and the direct support for the PS3 makes them super-convenient for owners. I wouldn't buy them as an XBox360 owner or PC gamer, but if I were a PS3 owner I'd definitely consider them. Happy gaming, Boz

You need to put the HD600 somewhere in there. Many people consider it do be better than the HD800.

Wolfetan
The HD600 is a solid headphone, but then so is the HiFiMan HE-400. And the Shure SRH1440. My point is that yes, I completely agree that the HD600 is awesome, having had the opportunity to audition it at some length alongside the HD800 (and the privilege of hearing the HD700, which was cool), but that there are lots and lots of great headphones out there. This list is by no means comprehensive, but it does offer readers some insight into brands with which they might not be familiar coming from Razer, Tritton, and Turtle Beach and models inside their price ranges. My high-end recommendations are really only to give readers a sense of scale. Once you start getting into that level of headphone you're going to be doing your research on Head-Fi and directly in boutique stores. We cannot forget the site that hosts us and its typical demographic, which is primarily teenagers and young adults with limited budgets. In conclusion: Yes, the HD600 is one sick headphone for its price! :D Happy gaming, Boz
