If you're looking for something quality with bass thump, consider the Velodyne V-Pulse. They're recommended by both C|Net and in the Head-Fi Summer Buyer's Guide. They're known for having strong bass and being a very "fun" IEM without sacrificing quality. Good luck, Boz

I think you'll find the Velodyne V-Pulse to your liking: They have a heavy bass kick without sacrificing quality, and they're highly-regarded in headphone enthusiast circles, including C|Net and Head-Fi (even making their Summer Buyer's Guide). Alternatively, the Klipsch Image S4 or S4i (the latter of which has iPod controls) are probably the best value in earbuds from a cost:quality perspective, and are one of the most popular earbuds in existence for good reason. Good luck, Boz

You'll need to be aware of connectivity when purchasing, then. Consider an Astro Mixamp for console connectivity, amplification, and surround-sound processing. Best of all, it allows you to use any headphone and mic when gaming. Turtle Beach has a similar product, the DSS 2, but it's inferior to the Mixamp in terms of quality. The Astro A30 mixamp and headset bundle is actually a pretty good deal for a console and PC gamer. Good luck, Boz

Definitely read the Headphone FAQ stickied at the top of the forum. You also didn't mention what you'd be using this with: Console or PC? Happy gaming, Boz

Normally I'd side with Mozelle on this, but since you want the best movie and game experience (versus music) you can get and you have limited availability, you're probably going to be best off with the Z506. You'd be hard-pressed to find another PC surround-sound system at the price, particularly given the relatively limited selection of the retailers you linked. A 2.0 or 2.1 system would sound better, if you had access to reputable brands like Audioengine, but I don't know what your local availability is like, and I think the Z506 will probably suit you just fine. For my fellow audio autures reading this thread, keep in mind the source audio isn't going to be FLAC files, it's going to be game audio and compressed video for an average gamer coming from the X530, which I assume the OP was quite happy with until it failed. Good luck, Boz

@HadOne2Many - That Tritton headphone is not a true 5.1 or 7.1 headphone, because it is not possible for a 5.1 or 7.1 headphone to exist. Headphones are unable to have a dedicated center channel: The audio is matrixed. Happy gaming, Boz

Personally I'd go with the Beyer, simply because it is more comfortable for long gaming sessions. One additional option I might consider is the AKG Q701, which are super-comfortable with a wide soundstage, neutral sound, and excellent positional audio with Dolby headphone. And they're comfy. To be honest, all of those headphones are going to sound fantastic, and all are open-back with a wide soundstage, so you can't really go wrong. Good luck! Boz
