New video games have cost about $50 since the original NES, and that was 1983. If video games simply followed inflation they would be over $100, so no, I think video games are fairly priced considering how much fun I had with my games back then!
I have a nice home cinema on my TV set up. I need a cheep one just to run sound (nvm how crappy it is) on my 2nd PS3 that I want to connect to a PC monitor.

Thats the problem. None of the cheap ones have an optical input. The speakers I linked would be much better. You have to use RCA (red and white audio cables) though.
Seconded: If you just need sound go with ChubbyGuy40's recommendation; ignore the 2.1 system I linked. Additionally, though, you're being a bit vague though. Do you only need a receiver for the optical input, are you looking for a receiver and speakers for a home theater setup, do you just need sound? The more you tell us, the better we can help you :) Happy gaming, Boz
It will vary by brand and model. Some HTIB (Home Theater In a Box) systems lack inputs entirely, so you'll need to check whether it has an optical input or not. That being said, I'm not aware of any $50 HTIB worth $50; you'll be happier in the long run living without and saving up for something that is - at the least - mediocre.
For $50 you can get a nice pair of headphones or at least an acceptable 2.1 system.
"Why isn't there a 'Capture the Trailer Trash' mode where a girl throws Duke over her shoulder and gives him a 'love smack on the booty' whenever he objects to kidnapping and potential rape? Oh, that's right- because this game was created by an inbred redneck."mrmcygan
I'd totally play as a girl that throws Duke over her shoulder and gives him a "love smack on the booty." That would be unquestionably entertaining.
I swear by Newegg - I've built at least four computers in as many years with my own money using parts exclusively from them - and ionusX's recommendations are probably what I would go with if I were buying a laptop myself. That being said, Costco has exceptional coverage relative to other retailers; exceptional. Consider carefully how much value you put in having the protection offered by Costco versus superior hardware at the same price.
Wait, did you get thermal paste on the pins of the CPU? If so you've got to clean that off.
Just take it all apart and use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips to clean everything. Use compressed air to make sure any fibers from the Q-Tip are removed from the ICs (integrated circuits) of the motherboard and CPU components.
When in doubt, clean it out. It makes sense because it rhymes. :P
