@nyran125tk Say what you what you want about Rage the game, but Carmak likely wrote id Tech5 mostly by himself and it's texture streaming tech finally addressed what has long been the bane of graphics engines - tiling (even Crysis looks like crap in some parts because of this). Rage doesn't have them, look around.

Carmak likes high-tech stuff, and "character statistics" isn't high tech.

I don't think you and I are seeing the same game here. Think Freelancer. If you haven't played that, I suggest you do. If you don't like it than space trading/dogfighting games probably aren't for you. I see Freelancer as a sort of TES game...in Space.

Most games don't let you simply skip to the final level with the big boss battle...why should you be able to in Star Citizen? Where is the fun in that?

The Homeworld 2 demo might still be available on the internet for those who want to try it.

I actually prefer it to the release because it has the more powerful ion turret - before they rebalanced.

PS4 will be 50 percent more powerful on the graphics side plain and simple. Memory bandwidth on PS4 should be better as well, until developers figure out Microsoft's cheaper and more complex system. None of this matters, of course, as developers will code for the lowest common denometer (Wii U? I kidd I kidd).

The hypervisor route interests me with the Xbox, and given their hardware choices, it should be significantly cheaper to build, as well as less power hungry. Since I will likely play high-end games on PC anyway and mainly use my 360 for Netflix nowadays, the Xbox is probably they way I would go.

1313 atmosphere seemed to fit the bill. Like the prequel trilogy or not, it certainly set an art direction for the fanchise.

Whereas the original trilogy was rather heavy, with hard edges around most ships, buildings, etc, the new trilogy was curveasous. That resulted as much from the available technology as any art direction I'm sure, so it will be interesting to see where Disney - both in films and games - chooses to take the franchise.

I'm not really sure which direction is best. Though most prefer the originals, I wonder if such a tongue-in-check, almost campy production would fly in today's market. We will see, but if I had to put money on it, I'd say Crystal Skull is a good reference for what to expect...
