Its hilarious, when I watched my friends play this game I had no idea what the big deal was, and now that I finally have it, I haven't been able to stop. I have over twenty different characters in five different servers. Axiom2k

Yeah did the same to me when I watched my ex play lol.. I was like : dude, this game is so freaking stupid... then he was like: try it... and I got hooked on the game

this is my first time to this thread..so i want to ask.....what is the current price of WoW and how much do you have to pay monthly in the states?  I will be moving back to the states soon from china, and in china i just download the game for free, and pay 30 RMB (3.75 USD) per 66 hours...so I want to kno the US prices now so that i can see if i will spend money on it once i get back.

It is 15$ in the US monthly but you can also buy game cards for  around 30$ for 60 days i think

I've got a couple questions to ask. Do I have to pay every month for play-time ( in the months when I dont wonna play)? For how long will my account be saved until deleting? The thing is that in my life I'm 30days free, 30 days busy ;). 3Le
You would need to pay by credit card cause with a gamecard, you pay for 3 months... I had some friends out of game for some months and they did not deleted their account. Which I think is nice from them :) I hope this helped you out a little ;)

I could be wrong but I believe I read that with the expansion they will tweak the cap rules a bit. Once you hit the level cap they are going to convert the XP you get to gold. I'm sure it's not going to be a 1to1 ratio but it's better than letting the XP go to waste. If I remember correctly they spoke about this relating to instances. I don't know if they are planning to include it in the whole world or not.

But if I happen to be wrong, or you disagree, don't freak out on me.

/Freaks out on you :P

but seriously, i didnt have that much informations about the expansion and i really would be agree with the exp turning into gold, this would help out for those who doesnt have tiem to get the money for repairs after a run in any high end instances.. damn epics costs a lot of gold =(

LOL!  :D  I just didn't want to get flamed for possibly wrong info. But yeah, I agree, I think they should really do something to make it worth while for the 60s. I think additional skills or attribute bonuses (like a previous post said) would be a good idea. You could use your XP as a voucher at a trainer to get either new abilities or to trade in for gold. But for the abilities I think they should make each new ability you get worth progressivly more XP so people can't go nuts on it.

LOL, I understand your point as for the flamming... my server is known for that -.- But anyways I think you actually have a great idea, some people just don't need the gold and others needs it... So it would be a serisouly nice choice. Personnally, I don't have the gold but I really could use more abilities lol...

with this game being out for so long, would it still be a good buy?ben0528

Im a WoW addict so I would say yes it is still worth it... More worth if you can get onto a new server for the reason that the 60s into an old server would be calling you a noob and would mostly not help you out if you need help... well on my server that is... there is still nice ppl tho that would help you if need be.

anyways, just want to add that i'm absolutely stoked for Burning Crusade update, although I don't know if raising the cap to 70 was a good idea.

oh well, i'll still play:D

mx2-option

I think they do that for the people that are leaving because they got everything, their level 60, their professions to 300 and all their epics, maybe even the Pvp rank? I guess its to get people to stay in the game more then to get new people to join up.

back when i used to play EQ (looooong time ago) they had a system for the high level folks. once you hit max lvl you would get a 2nd experience bar. you could still gain experience like you normally would but whenever you "Dinged" you get the equivalent of a talent point. you could use it to further develop your characters stats. ex. 1 talenet point = +1 AGI or STR or INT. the system was also tiered just like the tree system. so you had to spend so many points before having access to unique spells/abilites to your class and even a few racial abilities. i believe something of this calibur would keep people playing there' lvl 60 characters alot more if they had something to look forward to rather than loot. with my rogue i don't even do quests anymore. if im not helping on a run or pvp'n im not on her. to make it a little more worth while i think the experience recieved for this 2nd exp bar should be at 1/5 its normal so your not running around with people totally maxed out in all stats in like 2 weeks cause i know how people play this game religiously (myself included) anybody else think this is a pretty good idea or is everybody content with the current endgame we got? suggestions or changes? let me know.

evilinside2020

Actually that is a nice idea... however, with the expansion incomming, the max level will be higher... it would be nice if they added your suggestion at around that level... anyways.. lets see what the expansion have for us =)

Is this possible to play on dial up, I mean I would be playing in a low populated realm, and I have played games like Final Fantasy XI, Everquest, and Guild Wars on dial up and only lagged in heavily populated areas, otherwise it was fine. So could I play it on dial up?

portabledave

It will do pretty much the same as for your other games. If you still lag, just work with the resolution of your game, it may help if you decrease it.

Since when does resolution have anything to do with the speed of your internet?:|

He's talking about INTERNET lag, not FRAMERATE lag.

I know that but sometimes. if teh lag doesnt come from the internet, its the frame rate lag... Its just that.. For some computers, the default resolution of the game is not helping out... I just said it can help out decreasing it lol... I didnt say it was affecting the internet lag :P Thanks tho for precising that point out :)

I've played it on a 64kb/s connection after I used up my broadband bandwidth. I could hardly notice a difference, but then again it's usually always laggy here in Aus.

Yeah it gets like that almost everywhere now... I wasnt laggy up here in Canada... but since this last winter... it began being soo damn laggy and i was on Highspeed =( Now im at a place that has dial-up connection and i don't even try to connect... too scared of being in a group and get it wipe because im too laggy =/

Atleast I know you understand the fact that it isnt about server population, but about size, quality, and bandwith that each server has. ;-)

Im not much of a WoW fan, but I do look into the game. Having ALOT of Servers With low quality doesnt work because if one server has a problem, then most likely multiple servers will have the same problem. Also It would honestly cost them less money If they made the servers better instead of adding new ones on.

Last Time I checked FFXI they have 33 Up and Running servers, and 1 Beta Test Server. I know earlier I said that was alot, but its the fact that this games been out for almost 4 years now, and well there were originally 28 servers out by the time the game was been developed to english.(The japanese had the game almost 2 years before us) Also there servers have no MAX limit. Just u need a world pass so u can play with your friends.

Silenced_Hero

Yeah i remember the FFXI server systems, believe it or not i was a FFXI player until I got my account hacked.. then I tried to get back on my account, but I never got any answers from the responsibles of the game...so I stopped playing it. But i kinda love it that you don't need worl pass for WoWyou can ask your friends to come. But in WoW... happened to my server once, they closed the server for the new people because there was too many people on our server. Now, after some time, our server went from full to medium size, we don't have the usual lag as we used to but now we get server lag spikes... So i kinda figured out that it wasnt really from the population of the server but because of the quality of the server. Tho that having too many people at one place on the server at the same time (both factions), ie: The event of the Gates Opening of AQ, can crash the server and create a huge lag spike... =/
