Anime of the Week

Youkoso irasshai mashi-ta!

Welcome to this weeks Anime of the Week. I felt like starting a new thing to do and thought, well why not an anime review? I guess this will be a thing every Friday that way you guys can check out my recommendations over the weekend. So here it is:

Issue # 1

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan
(Lit. Club-to-Death Angel Dokuro-chan)

This is by far one of the most ridiculous, off the wall animes I have seen mainly because of its crazy humor. Basically this anime is about this kid named Sakura Kusakabe, a second-year junior high school student who sometime in the future is going to offend God by inventing immortality. Sure immortality sounds great until you find out that by inventing this it stops all women in the world from aging past the age of twelve creating a "pedophile world". So how does God fix this problem? He sends an Angel, Dokuro Mitsukai, to assassinate Sakura in his adolenscent years. Not only does she have the power to kill but she also has the power to raise the dead. Believing that Sakura can be redeemed, Dokuro always brings Sakura back to life each time after she kills him - with her gigantic spiked club which she so affectionately calls Excalibolg.

Of course this anime contains the typical sexual humor seen in just about all the animes of the same nature whether it's Ranma 1/2 or Kenshin with your nosebleeds and everything, but it's not hentai. Dokuro-chan basically makes Sakura's life to be a living hell with her killing him all the time and trying everything in her power to distract him from his studies. There's even a reference to the popular tv personality Hard Gay in the last episode clearly making this an anime meant for Japanese audiences unless you just happen to know Japanese pop culture.

This series is actually very short containing only 8 episodes so it can be watched in less than a day. I'm sure if they really wanted to they could have prolonged the series to the usual 51 episodes or so, but at least it ends in a good way leaving the possibility for future episodes. The animation is fairly good; the typical style for this day in age and the music/intro is also very amusing. The voice acting is pretty good but I have yet to hear the english dubbed version. If you can find this anime on DVD, go ahead and get it, it'll probably be the cheapest anime series you will have ever purchased. If not the whole "season" is on youtube so check it out there.

I hope you enjoy this little gem of an anime as I know I did watching it at work

Pipiru piru piru pipiru pi!

Yay! I have survived 22 years on this planet!

Yes today is my bday and even though it's a meaningless year, meaning that there's nothing special about being 22, I'm still excited that it's my bday  Tell me, who isn't excited when it's their bday? Good food, lots-o-presents, good company and usually free stuff. Yes I guess 22 isn't so bad after all...

I feel the need...the need for speed!

So I was really really bored and I was watching Top Gun when I decided, man this would be a badass music video with Ace Combat so I made a movie with Ace Combat. So you all should check it out and let me know what you think.

15,000 dollars is a lot of food

December 7th, 1941: darkest day in American history until 9/11. October 29th, 1929 or better yet known as Black Tuesday, the day the country went bankrupt. Now is November 17th, 2006 the darkest day in videogame history since the Virtual boy. What event is it that marred videogames forever you might ask? Two words: Playstation 3. That's right, you heard me, the release of the Playstation 3 has brought out the animal in man. Scalpers, armed robberies, assaults and even attempted murder. All for what? A piece of plastic and computer chips that within a few months time will be available to everyone in the US and eventually the world.

Already you have headlines with stories of innocent people, whose only crime they committed was being an avid gamer, being beaten senseless and robbed of their hard earned money, which may have taken them all year to earn. Heck $600 dollars may have been the most money some of these people have seen in their whole lives. Now you got some petty thugs scalping their illegally acquired system on ebay, which today one has already been sold for a whopping $15,099 dollars. What the heck?! You could by a car or put a down payment on a house for $15,000, but for a PS3 that's being retailed for only $600? That's just plain ridiculous. Either people just have way too much money to burn or they just don't care about being ripped off. That money could have bought you a years worth of food or a 360, a Wii, a PS3 and a crap load of games. I don't see how that was a wise purchase at all. These people need to take a class in money management because any financial advisor will tell you how idiotic it is for you to spend that much money on something that within a years time will cost $100 dollars less with each passing year decreasing in value.

Not only do you have those people who were duped out of their money but also you still have those people who paid the $600 bucks and then some for the actual system and then to have it yanked out of their hands by petty criminals. In all the years I have been gaming, since 1987 until now I have never seen such deplorable acts over something so trivial and meaningless as a piece of hardware that was only designed to entertain. I can see that happening over something like lets say the cure for Cancer, but not for that. So far the PS3 has brought none of that, only pain, empty wallets and psychological damage. So thank you Sony, thank you for releasing a scourge on the earth that can't even get backwards compatibility right or even come up with an original idea for their controllers.

Car Accidents ****

So yeah on my way to school this morning I got into a ridiculous car wreck. Yeah I'm ok, my chest hurts a little but I'm more pissed than anything. It was raining out and people here are notorious when it comes to rain because no one can drive in El Paso. Well some jerkoff decided to cut off some red car way infront of me forcing her to slam on her breaks which caused a green mustang to swerve and clip her in the back. This sent the lady flying into my lane forcing some minivan infront of me to slam on her breaks and swerve to the right. I hit my breaks and tried to swerve to the left and avoid her but my right front fender smacked her left rear bumper flinging it into oncoming traffic. The guy who caused all of this of course kept driving and will never be seen again. Luckily I got insurance but I'm hoping the damage to my car isn't more than what the car is worth because then they will just have to total it and I'll be out of a car. If this happened before I was going to move out of the country I wouldn't have cared, but since I'm still in school for two more semesters I might run the risk of not having a car to get around. This sucks...alot...and I hate the drivers here.

So this is what it feels like to have a Bizzaro!

So I found out the funniest thing ever today. Apparently I was the biggest block for some helpless soul who just so happens to look like me. This guy happened to see a girl who he thought was pretty cute and so decided to see if he could get her phone number. The girl was more than willing to give it up to him which she then preceeded to say "I've been waiting a long time for you to finally ask me out Johnny". Bewildered this poor sap asked "what did you call me?" to which she replied "Johnny Chase (aka me)". Stunned, this guy was all "Um...my name isn't Johnny Chase" and upon finding this out she took back her number and tore it up. Talk about a block! If that doesn't brighten my day then I don't know what will. The only problem is that I have no clue who this girl is and apparently is on my friends list, but as I look through it I don't see anyone that would like me that way which means they should probably tell me because it's pretty obvious how clueless I am.

So I'm the New Leader for AGU?

I know it's only temporary but I don't even think I'm up for the job itself. Even as an officer I only post so often and with Midterms starting this week I won't have any time for any unions. I hope I can pull this off at least until Cyborgjak gets his other union started, but knowing GS who knows when that'll get started. :?

Gone for 2 weeks

Yeah, I'll be gone from GS for 2 weeks. I'll come back here and there when I get a chance, but I'll be in Virginia, NY, DC, PA and Maryland during this time so I'll be on the go alot. Don't miss me too much out there, I'll be back before you know it
