and now i'll only have a break again on october. no saturdays, no holidays, not even some sundays. i hate our college entry system >_>
which, BTW, is a ridiculously hard test where only the ones with the X better grades get in. i made one of the hardest ones (each university has it's own test, obviously), to one of the best universities, with only 22 seats. i passed in 21st. but guess what? i have to finish high school (read: get to the end of this year) to be accepted, and cant hold my seat until i finish.
in other words, i'll have to pass the ridiculously hard test again >_>
anyways, since this monday i'm back to school. i've actually got better at bangai-O spirits, and even did some stages i thought that were impossible :P i even made some decent ones myself :D and i rented a couple games in these 2 weeks of no school. impressions list NOW:-- not now, first i'd like to tell this is my first blog (i think...) that's divided into multiple smaller blogs, so you can just skip what you dont want to read, or simply look at the picture and post a generic "cool sig" comment, just to say you actually clicked in my blog. and NOW the games:
METAL GEAR SOLID 4:GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS- i cant believe it took me so long to play that. giving this game a 10 is an offense. 10/10 is such a low score. the story itself makes the game, and i didnt care about the long cutscenes (there's one "cutscene compilation sequence" with over an hour), because they are awesome. of course, all those compliments are for those people that know the story of the MGS world, like me. for the others (ignorants), a 10/10 suits the game well, because of it's incredibly good gameplay mechanics, tight controls, epic bosses, masterpiece soundtrack, astonishing graphics (and i had to play on a low-def TV), great voice acting (if you are trying to follow the complicated story without having a clue of what's going on), and that "feels like i'm inside a movie" feeling. there's not a single thing to complain about in the game. i beat the game in the weekend i rented it. since i had other 2 days until i returned them, i decided to start again (on the last day, because i also decided to try MGS online, a pretty cool game too) on the "big boss hard" difficulty, instead of the "solid snake normal" from the first playthrough. i also decided i wouldnt kill anyone. i only killed one person, because i wanted to test my new "toy": the sorrow doll :P and yes i may buy it, if i find it for something like 15 dollars (i have too many games to get one i've already beaten, no matter how awesome it is)
BURNOUT PARADISE- yes, burnout paradise again :P i rented for my father mainly, but he suddenly got addicted to guitar hero  still a great game, even though it's cheap sometimes, and the "too close to the ground" camera can cause some trouble sometimes. i might get this one, but since we dont have access to the game's DLC here in brazil (nor we have to the PS store or the PS home... and the Xbox live services too) and the offline world can get tiring (specially if you dont have who to play with), it's just another game i just might pick
LOST PLANET- it's a nice game with nice graphics (and bosses that make shadow of the colossus bosses look like small ants), but that's it. cool, you have a grappling hook, but other than that it's just another third person shooter. not to say the (weak) story is told in a terrible way: one ssecond you dont know anything, but you trust everyone you meet with your lives, even if the first thing they ask you to do is to go out on a killing spree. then they tell you about something called NEVEC you never heard of, but they said they didnt like them, so, even without thinking if what you're doing is right, you suddenly feel ultimate hatred for those guys. not to mention the hostage that becomes your friend and helps you destroy what he used to work on for no reason. wtf? oh, and the menu interface looks like something from a flash game. you turn on the game. a giant white screen with "lost planet" written and the omnipresent "press start" icon. you finish a stage, a huge "mission clear" icon pops out of nowhere. not even some fading for it?
GUITAR HERO: SMASH HITS (WII VERSION)- not much to talk here. the songs? almost all of the 48 are awesome, which means it's as good as a regular GH title. the real problem lies in the use of the hardware. the graphics look like an unfinished PS2 game from 2001. the gems (the most important gameplay mechanic) lags. LAGS! not to mention that some gems disappear before you strum them, when you have to strum fast. that makes you have to slow down your strumming just to wait for the other gems to get close to the line. it's really annoying. maybe, if you can transfer its songs to GH 5, they'll work properly. but if i get a nice price for it (not the ridiculous $150 for the game only i've seen these days >_> it's... about $40 over the usual. yes, our prices suck >_>), i'll buy it. OR, if i can transfer it to GH 5, i'll rent it again and transfer the songs :P
LEGO BATMAN- this one i rented for my 7 year old cousin, that left yesterday. he was never really good at the wii (he didnt quite understand the whole "shaking" thing... until now. i'll explain later), and he has a PS2 and liked lego batman, so i figured he'd like it. actually, he picked it :P anyways, the game's nice, for a lego game. i'm not much of a fan of the "lego *insert something*" series. but this one was okay.
THE COUSIN FACTOR
as for why my cousin didnt play the wii, there's another reason: his hands are too small . anyways, he saw me playing wii sports these days (what? i like wii golf... and i decided to try the "91 pins explosion" trick in front of him :P) and asked to play "the bowling one" :P he's addicted to bowling now and can scores more strikes in a game than i ever could >_> and i also decided to teach him some good taste (all he plays on his PS2 are crappy movie games that he doesnt know that it's crappy because he doesnt have better options) and put him to play on my 100% file of super mario galaxy, on the order of the galaxies. took him a while to find a way to hold the nunchuck and move the analog at the same time, but he got it. only problem is that he LOVES to jump. so everytime he was going to do something, he (my cousin) started jumping, causing the wiimote to shake, causing mario to spin, causing him to get hit :P it was specially tough to convince him he'd manage to beat that lava octopus boss, but in the end he did it. of course, the giant flying beetle was too hard for him (maybe too hard for his constant jumps...) and he started crying. then i turned off the wii and told him to go sleep because it was too late (midnight >.>). but at least now he loves mario
THE... OTHER STUFF FACTOR
other than that, only thing i did was watching the new harry potter (even after 2 and a half hours of movie, i thought it was short. it got to the end when i thought it was getting to the half of it >_>) and making this new sig (i did it two days ago, actually :P)
yes i'm back to colored stuff, even though it doesnt have the same over-contrast my works usually have, and i didnt use any brushes (again... some tech brushes would be awesome, but now it's too late for that). i've been wanting a metroid other M sig for a while, but nobody posted a render i liked on planetrenders, so i turned this one (it was pretty "dirty" before) into a nice one :P
*thinks* i guess that's it.
