[QUOTE="Buddha_basic"][QUOTE="mexicangordo"] Thats not true at all...Hmm...do you know more about billy than yourself? I hope not.
People hate Billy Corgan ever since they released Siamese Dream (there second album) The reason why is because Billy said they needed to make the best album they could or people will just think they are a nobody band. So he pushed himself and tried to push his band to make the best album they could. But his bandmates did not see it that way. They just wanted to make songs without the pressure of making something fantastic. Thus, it made Billy Corgan work by himself along with Jimmy, they recorded the whole album by themselves, and Billy was viewed as a Tyrant and arrogant for him taking charge of the whole album which, btw, is one of the best albums of all time, Siamese Dream. The accusations only grew as the band progressed. Billy wanted to have the greatest band in the world and always pushed him self, which is why their next album was the Double Disc Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. People once again, criticized Billy Corgans personal lyrics, morphed his ambition to make better music into arrogance and greatly criticized the band. This is why Billy hates many critics because they have always greatly criticized all his music. Theres more to it but thats manly the over view of the whole thing.

I think maybe though there is a blurred line in this between being arrogant and being egotistical, both of which most of the time come hand in hand, both of which i think billy is. I'm not saying its bad but lets be honest...what else but for ego food would anyone want to "make the best album ever" so they wont be viewed as another "nobody band".
Anyway i do enjoy smashing pumpkins. Their new stuff (the current reincarnation of SP) i think is a lame attempt to bring back the old and frankly just isnt taht good. Although i did see them here on their first reunion tour at Red Rocks and their new stuff was incredible live and of course the old stuff was bliss.
Well thats a silly statement, although i can easily say i look up to the man, his music greatly changed my life.Ive said before, he does have an ego but he is not this tall arrogant "im better than the world" kind of guy that most people (even his fans) make him seem. He wanting to make the "best album" means he has an ego now? I guess me wanting to be the best "chef" makes me have a big ego as well, along with anyone else who sets their goals high and dreams big....
I like their new stuff, although I am not blind. I love the band dearly and i know bad music when i hear it. I like that he's moving on and and evolving. Thats a huge level of respect that most bands lose from their fans because they become this Karaoke box. Lets be glad that they wan't change and i honestly hope they make another album.
Ha yea i guess it was......Having big dreams and goals doesnt scream ego no but having big dreams and goals for the recognition...thats for the ego. Again though i dont think thats bad at all. Everyone has an ego some let it drive them more than others and if it helps you succeed or drive for success then why not? But most rockstars get into the business to become big because they want the "women the drugs the money the house the (dare i say it) god like image" etc etc. Its just the life they choose nothing wrong with that as long as youre happy, but lets not sugar coat it.
Oh yes i def. hope they make another album. Not everyone can **** gold every time they go to the toilet right? Their new stuff isnt horrible but i think billy is just trying very hard (feeling around in the dark maybe?) for that next "siamese dream" type successful album while pushing the buondaries of what people expect or even want to hear from them. It def. has an old school pumpkins taste to it (the solos!! which still rock) but i dont think its the same emotion generating music im used to from them. His solo electronica esque album i think is another example but this i really dont like that much if at all, whereas the new SP (tarantulla and the like) i really enjoyed hearing and seeing played live more so than on album.
