It took a while, and after lots of crappy ports the PS3 is finally showing some stunning games. Just look at Killzone 2 in PRE PRE Alpha!! It looks like you're playing in a CGI sequence. abudjasim

Yeah...from 15 years ago.

I wasn't terribly impressed, and I wouldn't go around boasting about KZ2's "even though it's been in development for over 2 years we're still in pre-pre-Alpha" screenshot.

GT games have tyre damage. Traction will start out a bit slippery at first and gradually become a bit more sticky as the tyres warm up and gradually give way as the tires start to wear out. I'm sorry that you lemmings need that extra incentive to drive like real race drivers. I guess I'm just more discplined.

PikaPichu

So, you don't like to race like a real driver, and prefer to play bumper cars around a pretty, shiny looking tech demo.

Thanks for owning up to that. I'm sure people will know what context to put your opinion in from now on.

I couldnt belive my eyes gt5 makes forza 2 look like a wii game and it's not even close to being done yet.Sony showed why the ps3 is the system to own and whyI am happyI bought one.BrooklynBomber

Somehow, I doubt professional race car drivers and respected publications like Popular Science will be commenting on how good GT5 looks. I guess the guys who worked on Forza must have taken the superior approach.

acknowledged... and btw, is your avie from Robot Chicken?

Now, my answer to your post: I agree. If what they have running right now looks like a piece of crap then a few "tweaks" (which is a weak word, btw) won't improve it. However, that screenshot makes me think that this game won't have weak graphics as that screen looks pretty damn good. Of course, opinions vary on this but honestly... that screenshot makes me want more, especially daylight screens. Cause y'know... darkness tends to make games look worse... a prime example of this is Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. One of the best games ever and the best game in terms of graphics on last-gen consoles looked muddy and **** in the darkness. Then again, this helghast guy is lit up by muzzle-fire, but the rest of the environment, like that "low res" wall on the very left, isn't.a_ratchet_fan

Having given that image a second look, I take back what I said before, I do think it's quite unimpressive. The textures, even on the model, look murky and washed out from that single, badly done light source. The environment, as you say, is also very unimpressive. I'd also like to see more...and see that it looks better than this. I don't think you can tell a whole lot about a conventional game, good or bad, from a single screenshot. You'd need to see it in action.

And my avatar is from Dogma.

But there's a LOT of cutscenes in a modern GTA game, which would make for a ridiculous amount of disc swapping. "Let's start this mission...great, gotta swap discs...okay, gotta swap discs again now that the cutscene's over...aw, crap, another cutscene, gotta swap discs AGAIN...okay, that's over, just swap discs and complete this mission...What? I FAILED? All because this NPC couldn't shoot worth a crap? Now I have to undergo all this disc swapping ALL OVER AGAIN!" It would be like Hired Guns, only much worse!NamelessPlayer

Why would any developer in his right mind have you switch disks in the middle of a mission? Or span multiple disks with cutscenes?

Obviously, they would require that you switch disks once you have clearly progressed beyond a certain point, and then there's no need to go back. Sorry, sir...despite your stylish retro gaming avatar, this post fails.

Square Enix would make 120 million right. Risistance sold over 2 million and lets say FF13 sells 3 million that is 180 million Square Enix make. How much would FF13 cost to make mayb e60 or 90 million and if they make 180 or 200 milliion they could make enough money on PS3 userbase. And by April 2008 PS3 probably would have sold 10 million or 8 and if 5 million buy FF13 that is 300 million Square makes. They don't need to put FF13 on a another console unless they want more than that.

You're overestimating the amount of money S-E makes from every sale by a factor of about 3.

MGS4 isn't even confirmed for 360 yet. and even if u do get it, have fun changing discs 5 times and hoping that ur 360 doesn't get the rings of death. I'll just stick to one disc on PS3.TOTAL_DEFENSE_0

lulz...bitter much?

Nice avatar. Too bad it's all we'll see of that game till E3 08.

Lemmings are saying "Oh I don't mind switching discs!" but really, when has the last time you switched disc on an Xbox? Back in the FF multi disc days on the PSX, switching discs is pretty much dead. The reason being that its not about the consumers, it's about the developers who don't want multidisc and here is why.

All games contain source files or an engine to run on. These essential information is required for the game to run. Let's say 6gigs out of 8.5gb are used for the source. That would leave 2.5gb for content.

NobuoMusicMaker

What strange planet do you come from where the source for a video game takes up 6 gigs?

I've been switching disks for games ever since they came on 3.5 and 5 inch floppy disks... I wouldn't mind having to do it again one bit if the game's even remotely goodSpaceMatt

Floppy...disk...
