Band Auditions are so nerve wrecking

Today I had my band auditions for next year. I'll be going to a 11th-12th grade school and I must say i was nervous like heck. But, I was surprised that there wasn't so many alto saxes (which I play also) at the auditions. A few were not there and one other won't be going to the school I'm going next year. Plus, I did pretty well (for me :P) on everything. Could it be? Is it finally the time I will be in Symphonic band? The second highest band in the school? We'll have to wait and see.

Last weekend I went to San Antonio for band. Man was it FUN! Friday, we drove up there and I played SoulSilver the whole time. My friend played my diamond version next to me. Haha in fact, half the guys on the bus, no, maybe all of them were playing their DS. XD It was astounding. So we go and play our concert, get some trophies, then head to the hotel. We swam in the pool that night then went back to our rooms. You don't want to know what happened when we were in our rooms. XD Saturday we went to Fiesta Texas and had a baller (or awesome) time. :P I didn't ride any roller coasters by the way :P and Sunday we head back to school. One awesome weekend!

Only4 regular weeks of school are left. The other 2 weeks are TAKS week (states test) and exam week. Wow! So close to the end of the year! Come on Summer, getr herefaster!

I bet everybody wants to know where I went

So, why was I gone for practically 2 months? well, first of all, i gave up my laptop for Lent. I succeeded, but I'm spending too much time on it again. It's sad >.> i really need to reduce the time i am on here.

when i came back on and scammed through the unions i'm in, i remembered I was in 2 unions. The League of Reviewers Union and the All Out Nintendo Union. That got me thinking, i should start writing reviews again. I mean, I played tons of games while I was away (mostly Pokemon games). I might as well review some of them. But I can't decide which one I should review. hmm...

In any case, I'm having my ups and downs and all that good drama stuff. Staying away from the laptop actually really helped reduce my stress. I was much calmer and wasn't thinking as much as I have been. Anyway, good things are coming up soon, like a band trip to San Antonio, a birthday party in May, and band auditions for next year (in case some of you forgot, i play alto saxophone). I'm gonna have tough competition for the auditions. So many saxophones in our area. >.>

That's all i have for today. i'm hoping to get back into reviewing sometime soon.

The Best of John Coltrane

So any of you remember that I got 2 CD's of John Coltrane on Christmas? Well, apparently they are 2 of the best jazz albums from John Coltrane out there. I showed them to my band director and that's what he said. He was pretty excited to see that I got them  Anyway, because of these albums, I love jazz music almost as much as the other music I have. Jazz musicians are amazing because they work on music with super fast tempos and they have to count a long time (especially in long solo sections)sometimes until they come in. And then there's so many other things about jazz music that's hard and they manage to do everything great. Here's an example of one of John Coltrane's famous pieces, Blue Train. Blue train is also the name of the album that the piece, "Blue Train" is on. Now, jazz music can be pretty long, especially if it has a long solo section. Blue Train is about 10 minutes long, so it would be great if you listened to the whole thing and give your opinion. If you aren't into jazz music, that's okay, you don't have to listen to it. But if you are slightly into it or a big fan of jazz, take some time to listen to it.

one of my resolutions completed! + GOTY (2009)

yes, i have done one of my resolutions already. Today I did number 8. ask out the girl I like/tell her i like her. soo what happened? she said she liked someone else. poop... but I can only appreciate her honesty and not lie to me like other girls have. and we're still good friends. only difference will probablybe i'll have a sick gut whenever we talk at school. But you know, i gotta move on. what will make that harder is that there are no other girls that stand out to me like she did. eh.. moving on.

So what's my GOTY of 2009? well, let's go in order of my least favorite to most favorite, my favorite being my GOTY.

Shadow Complex (XBLA)

This isn't to say it wasn't bad. It was definitely good. Everything else was just better :P anyway, if any of you are metroid fans, this game will feel similar to you. The story is pretty funny and it has a nice twist ending, because youcan't expect it. Now, I haven't played a 2D Metroid game, but this game makes me wish I did, because the gameplay is pure fun. This game kept me entertained for quite a while. It's a great XBLA game worth the 800 points.

Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS)

I wanted to finish the before I made myGOTY,but I know my #1 will definitely not change and I didn't want to keep you all waiting too long. Spirit Tracks is actually a very enjoyable Zelda DS title, definitely better than Phantom Hourglass. Early in the game, the puzzles are relatively easy, but by the 4th temple, the puzzles are very creative and sometimes difficult. What makes it a but difficult is the Tower of Spirits (I think that's what it's called, correct me if I am wrong). The Tower of Spirit's puzzles really makes you think since you have Zelda with you this time around and she's necessary to complete that part of the tower. So far, I''m really liking the game, and I'm currently stuck in the Tower of Spirits after the 4th temple. I hope to finish it in the near future... maybe.

New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)

Boy, does this game bring me back. It reminds me so much of Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, Yoshi's Island, and others. That's what made me hooked on the game until I beat it. I loved the level designs, they were definitely more creative and were what we haven't seen before in a 2d platformer mario game. and let me tell you, it's a blast with friends playing with you. Because it makes every death funnier (at least for me :P). Overall, it's a blast to play, single player and multiplayer.

Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story

It's the 3rd game of the Mario and Luigi series and it's best one out of the 3. The story and humor is wackier than ever, the gameplay is fantastic with the changes they made, and the music is very fitting. What surprised me is that Bowser plays a bigger role than Mario and Luigi, and that worked very well. I only wondered what would happen next throughout the whole game. Truly a fantastic game.

Batman: Arkham Asylum (360)

This is probably the only superhero game I have played and a superb one at that. I loved the look, I loved the Joker, and I loved the gameplay. My favorite thing to do would be the combat. It's cool to see how many moves Batman can perform to take down all of the enemies. The story was a great one too because it was a classic Batman story. Challenge mode is really... challenging, especially the combat and the predator extreme. In the end, the story is plain fun to play and listen to, and the gameplay can really get you hooked.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360)

Let this be known, I suck at shooters. But I never had that much fun dying and dying again to become a better player. the single player campaign to me was nothing special but the ending cool! where the game really shines is the multiplayer, if none of you caught that yet :P Many different kinds of matches, the titles, emblems, killstreaks, and challenges help what makes the multiplayer so great. Playing with some friends was probably the most fun I have ever had on a game online. and even though I'm not that good, it's still freaking awesome.

AND MY GOTY IS...

The Beatles Rock Band (360)

It's the Beatles, which I love, and they're on rock band, which I also love. 'nuff said.

Okay, if you want a better explanation why Beatles Rock Band is my GOTY, tell me in the comments. It's really late where I am and I'm about to fall asleep. So leave a comment!

What I was thankful for during Thanksgiving Break

Hey guys! Well, it's been a while. and I thought I would make it up to you guys by telling you what I was thankful for during the Thanksgiving Break. I typed this up during my desktop publishing class and then copied the whole thing on a piece a paper so i can share with you guys. Be warned though, it's a little exaggerated and it doesn't feel very... complete, if you know what I mean. but anyway, hope you enjoy reading it! (If that's possible :P)

I am thankful for one amazing person in my life. Her name is Sophie. I honestly cannot completely describe how AMAZING this girl is. She is everything a friend can ask for. There is nothing I can complain about her. She is just awesome in practically every aspect. And what attracts me to her most is her personality. There no person on this Earth that would not love her personality. I can't get enough of it. Whether she's mad, sad, or happy, she is very open about her feelings and expresses them into a funny, sad, or shocking story. It's great to just listen and hear what she has to say. I just love this girl, and I miss her so much whenever I'm feeling upset or sad, because I know she would confort me no matter what happened. Now, because she is at a different school, she can't do that all the time anymore. That's why I miss her. I miss her hugging me when I needed a hug, talking to me, and dancing with her at parties. Out of all of the people I've met, Sophie has to be one of my favorite people in the whole world.

So, that's that. Comments are appreciated. :)

If any of you remember the guy I was talking about, you know, the guy that annoyed a lot? Well, let's just say that he got what he deserved today :) and no, I did not do anything to him :P I'm not that mean.

In game related news, I got New Super Mario Bros. Wii last weekend (not the weekend after Thanksgiving, the one before) and I've played through most of it. I'm loving the game. It brings me back to the older platforming Mariogames. It's probably obvious to everyone that has it, but anyway, the nostalgia really stuck to me when I played through the game. Yet, the whole game felt newer. nintendo did a great job on this Mario platformer.

Now, I must be off, to a world far beyond :P
