Dude... everything you say is invalidated... you already admitted to have scewing the facts... and you just keep it going. This thread is hilariously awesome.

turtlethetaffer

Uh, scewing the facts? Wow, you're quite hilarious...

Well you said that Cod has over 7 mil online a day. Failed to mention tht that's for EVERY SINGLE GAME IN THE SERIES. So yeah the facts were a little scewed.

Don't I mean the series when I say "COD"? Did I say BO or perhaps MW? Wow, you're making yourself look stupid.

[QUOTE="CallOfDutyXxX"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] Funny how none of these other franchises has an online mode. Except for Final Fantasy, which is a crappy MMO. Go on, just go on, this is getting more fun by the minute.turtlethetaffer

OK. COD dwarfs WOW. BO alone dwards the entire Gears series, Killzone series, Resistance series and BF series. So what now?

But does CoD dwarf Runescape?

Isn't Runescape a free game, too? Anyhow, yes it does, unless of course Runescape; has more than 7 million users daily... has sold 30 million units... made $1 billion in retail sales...

Wow... 7 million for like... how many games? 7 or 8? Wow very impressive.

turtlethetaffer

How can it not be impressive, when NO other franchise can do anything similar? Mario, 200 games, not even close to 1 million. Final Fantasy, over 10 games, not even close to 300k. Zelda, over 10 games, not even close to 500k. You get the point...

Yeah.... but the thing is, it's not the 7 million you said.

turtlethetaffer

Except that the 7 million figure is for the ENTIRE CoD series...

CoD supposedly sold over 10 million on both systems. Lat time I checked, over a million play daily on 360 and less than a million on PS3. So basically, only 10% of the buyers felt the online was worthy of attention after 8 months (with many leaving way before that timeframe). Lets say that only half of the buyers play online. Thats 20% of the fanbase that stuck around for the online. Moral of the story, people leave Cod online just as fast as any other game. Notice how Activision didn't release the number for the newest version, but for all versions combined.

turtlethetaffer

Um... Black Ops has ridiculously many playing it on the 360, and PS3. Easily over 1 million for the PS3, the 360 is insanely high. In its prime days, Black Ops had 3 million users logged in AT ONCE on LIVE, proof: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/callofduty7workingtitle/show_msgs.php?pid=960189&topic_id=m-1-58287077 Nowadays, it's something like 2 - 3 million A DAY, which is still decent.

If Mario had online and was released on the other platforms, then I'd say that it would probably have to have roughly 20 billion gamers daily.

In fact, we all know that.

Blade8Aus

I'll play along but we both know that is not true. COD is much bigger than Mario now, Mario was bigger in the past, from now on, COD is king and buries Mario. The 7 million online gamers are a proof of it.

We all know that they only play it because it has online and is available on other platforms. We all know that if Mario had online and was on other platforms, then no-one would play Call of Duty at all and Mario would have billions of gamers daily. Look at the sales for Mario on the Wii and then look at the ones for CoD on the Wii.

The Wii gamers are not online gamers, so I have a hard time believing that, unless you can give me a game on the Wii which can compete with COD/Halo/WoW in terms of users online?

[QUOTE="charizard1605"][QUOTE="CallOfDutyXxX"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] It's supposed to mean exactly what it says: if Mario had some kind of an online mode, which it doesn't, it would have seen more people logging in hours of play than Call of Duty does. I honestly fail to see what is so hard to understand about that.

That is the funniest comment I have read today. COD is an unstoppable online phenom, and when the Wii is by far the least used system (especially for online), how would Mario possibly be able to compete with the monstrous Call of Duty?

Maybe the Wii isn't used online because it doesn't have any games that encourage online play? An online Mario game would certainly change that, wouldn't it? Also, I shall now raise three points. Unless you can argue all three of them convincingly, you shall be deemed to have lost this argument. So don't bother responding unless you respond to EVERY POINT: 1) You still haven't responded to my refuting your claim that Call of Duty is the most consistently scoring FPS franchise. I listed quite a few other franchises that have scored at least as high as Call of Duty has, or higher. You chose to ignore that part of the post. Are we to agree then, that Call of Duty is neither the highest rated, nor the most consistent, FPS franchise? 2) These 7 million gamers online per day is across FOUR GAMES, right? That is, it's Modern Warfare, World at War, Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops PUT TOGETHER getting 7 million players online per day? And that is a big deal? The average number of players each game gets, then, is 1,750,000 per day. Halo gets more players online than that. 3) The Wii has sold the most. Since, by your claims, the highest selling thing is the best, the Wii is automatically the best console of this generation, am I right?

1. What do you mean by this? The CoD series has recently been AAA, are you disputing this? 2. Tell me any other franchise that even comes close to (I'll be nice), 2 million. Halo is nowhere close these days. 3. I haven't even mentioned sales, only user activity. I haven't talked about Call of Duty sales. :/
