I can believe this is true...but not in the way people are thinking.

It will be very easy to create a flashcard for the system...that plays pirated software created for the original DS. That will happen very quickly.

Cracking the system to allow play of of pirated DSi and 3DS software..is a very different matter.

The thing that annoys me about this thread isn't the comment on Wii vs iPhone graphics...

...it's the fact Konami are willing tomake what's essentially a Metal Gear lightgun shooter on the iphone......but not do the same for the Wii.

A decent version of Mirrors Edge could be done on the Wii...but would have to be designed specifically around the hardware and not just ported over and downgraded.

Half the battle would be in the level design... clever postioning of buildings to limit pop-up etc.

Frankly a decent version of Mirrors Edge could be done on the DS if you had a dev who would bother to make the effort....sadly few do.

It's quite shocking to be honest.

It was being stupidly over hyped..perhaps even more than GTA4 was...but when the recall happened it's like the hype completely crashed and burned. It was at the top of the hype mountain ..and then suddenly went into freefall. Bizarre.

for those asking "why MIDI why?"

It wouldn't have been possible any other way. There simply wouldn't be enough room on the disc (be it DVD or Blu-Ray) to hold the number of tracks required.

You're talking 60 different instruments each capable of playing any part of the track in a variety of styles...you'd be talking thousands and thousands of hours of recording. This isn't like other music games where you have a set track with set notes and set instruments. MIDI is the only option (although that's not to say they could have got some better MIDI samples for some instruments)

It would have been nice to have one big hardcore game from Nintendo this christmas..but to be honest I'm more stunned at 3rd parties still not having anything big for Christmas on Wii. At least Nintendo have two big expanded audience titles..3rd parties have pretty much nothing.

Lots of money being left on the table by 3rd parties. A shame that Sega couldn't have gotten "House of the Dead -Overkilll" out..as it could have cleaned up.

The obvious thing to do would be to work out a deal for a DS version with online /local multiplayer and voice chat .....and forget the 360/Wii versions entirely.

That way they all make money without given any advantage to a competing machine.

Probably....but I 100% blame 3rd parties for that.

Usually the market leader is the machine that gets the quality support ....but most devs still seem to want to keep their eyes closed and fingers in their ears, while shouting "Wii is a fad, Wii is a fad..sales WILL slow down!"....rather than accept the fact they have squandered a chance to make millions and changing their course.

If we're combining formats..then probably GTA4. On a single format it'll be Mario kart Wii.

I suppose the new Guitar Hero has a chance (due to its multi platform release)....although the price will likely put many off.

Any dev with half a brain would have used the Wii pointer to target and control force powers.

Until I see a first person Motion+ lightsaber game (preferably based on the classic trilogy)..or a Wii force power game that uses the IR pointer...I won't be spending any money on this half hearted trash.

I would have taken a Wii port of Star Wars Trilogy Arcade over this....at least that would have made decent use of the wii pointer.
