The End of a Gaming Era?!

*******************IMPORTANT NOTICE BEFORE THE FOLLOWING RANT*******************

Yeah....this rant might actually make some people mad if I actually do get the time to sit down and construct the entire thing like I want. I just want to apologize now for the butt-hurt I'm about to unleash upon my gaming friends here at GameSpot. And when I mean butt-hurt, I mean whatever I'm about to say will trigger the responces from either "hard core" gamers who only play the specified genre I'm about to step on, or the fanboi's. Just know I'm sorry, friends, who have been sucked in. Who knows, ranting this might make me look like a fangirl of sorts. And that's the kind of people who make me mad. So I, myself, make my own self mad. Wtf o_O.

****************************************************************************

It's been a long time coming, but I think the apocolypse of gaming has finally arrived. And I, for one, am very saddened at this thought. The rest of us held on so long, gripping our controllers late into the night, fearing the terrible disease that's swept the nation hoping that friends and family won't get infected. Our great nation is infected with...dun dun dunnn.... First Person Shooters *gasp*.

Ha! I can already feel the heat of a collective anger of many of you already. How dare I step on toes of SUPER FABULOUS OMGWTFLOLBBQ HEAD SHOOT BOOM games. But that's ok, I guess you have every right to be mad, just like how I and select others are just as mad for the genres we love so much are being smothered with a gravy sauce of bullets then swallowed whole by masses of hungry, bloodthirsty people with headsets on crying out that everyone shall die at their skillfull feet.

They spread that infection to the even younger youth of today. This day and age if you listen carefully while watching your friends play some shooter online, I swear you hear the squeaky high pitched voices of 10-13 year olds who's mouths should be washed out with soap. I'm not against swearing, cause I let out a string of them when I stubbed my toe this morning. But kids at that age are still impressionable, and apparently it's ok for parents to let their children simulate shoot their own friends or people they don't even know and then spew forth words to make even your grandma blush. And most of the time, it's horrible improper english in the first place so they even use the words in the wrong places. *hands them a dictionary* It drains a little bit of my own intelligence each time I hear something like that.

It's even spreading to the adult community. I don't know if any of you ever heard or coined the term "stroking their epeens" but it's something that's constanly resurfacing. Basically, if you haven't ever heard this term it means aperson who over animately brags about something they've done online. "I've gotten this mean head shots in so-and-so campaign" "Ha, I've got the best items from whats-its-place" and "I capped what's-his-nuts so much in blah blah campaign that he won't ever come back." LoL I think I'd love to see a 40 year old man call someone else whats-his-nuts, I might just lose it. It's just bragging rights, but what good is it? Does it give you a discount on online game shopping? Does the president of what's his face gaming corporation give you a gold medal in person? O_o

But in all seriousness, is there any strategy to a FPS? I personally see it as an all out Leroy Jenkins on everyone's @$$. You sit around for 5-15 min waiting on a group to form. Talk crap about the other team. When it's time to go, it's no long a 5 min planned strategy. It's a freaking free for all. You run in, bum rush the other squad with a flood of bullets and do some neaderthal-like man (or woman) dance of victory, rinse, and repeat for the next 15 hours straight. Where's the strategy? Where's the careful planning and watching for weak spots to utilize?

Is this what we heading for though? An era where we are given games that do not stimulate the mind, but to mindlessly point and shoot other players or npc's in the face and think that it actually takes "skill"?! Will we eventually resort back to a simian, knuckle-dragging, species instead of a tatical, planning group of THINKING INDIVIDUALS?!?!?!?! What will become of the gaming era?

So ~ R.I.P. to the games that made us work together (if you so chose on online gaming). R.I.P.rpg's, srpg's, strategy games, simulations, platformers, action/adventures, stealth, flyingand fighters. While on occasion we celebrate and praise the few rare games that rise above the mind numbing point and shoot. Rhythm games jumped easily to the top these last few years. And now a resurfacing of fighters is being joyously thrust foward. People who enjoy role playing patiently wait for a new batch of RPG's to take back their thrown and be immersed in a world totally different from ours. While all the while those who hail from FPS press their fanboisms at us like Jehovah's Witnesses (no offense to religious cults either!!!! sorry!!) banging at our doors that our gaming worlds are dying.

I guess there's no use for the educational system either? >__>

I for one will be still clutching my beloved games, full of excitement and color. Where you fall in love with the characters, and giggle with glee when you discover a particularly difficult puzzle, or a boss' elemental weakness while the rest of you play games that require the minimal amount of effort in worlds that lack color and excitement.

Update (with pics)

Since nobody's noticed that I have posted my new tat pics in my 'Images' section lol, I'll just put them here too if it's possible with GameSpot. The last time I tried, which was on Friday, it said my HTML was not well formed or some crap. I still haven't figured out why though...

Blooming Mandy phase 1. I call it phase 1 since phase 2 will include adding color.

And since I can't post the trio of chocobos b/c GS hates the HTML format imaging thingy, please go look at it in my 'Images' section. *sigh*

My grand finale of gaming nerdom (lol).

Yep that's right folks you read it right. ^^ I'm making my grand finale into gaming nerdom. And upon noticing the category of this blog, one might ask "Well Cami, how does nerds and fashion go together?" Good question! By tattooing the human body! Apparently tattoos are becoming less of a fad, and more fashionable as ever. And apparently I had the grand idea of hopping that bandwagon. Muhahaha :3

Anyway, I've begun the long journey of getting a sleeve on my left arm. Meaning from my shoulder down to near my wrist will be covered. And the project is alreayd underway and I'm so excited. And what's the theme? Another good question friends ~ I'm dedicating it to Final Fantasy. ^^ Pics will be included during, mid, and final product so be on the lookout. Right now I've gotten 3 on my arm so far, my white mage which is included in my pics on this GS profile but the other 2 haven't been photoed yet simply because I've just recently gotten those 2 started since last Friday and only the outline and shading have been completed. The color will come later. But here's a brief description of the idea and I'll get those pics up asap (meaning I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have them up this afternoon).

¤Upper arm: FF3 White Mage

¤ Lower forearm: A trio of Chocobos

¤ Back of upper arm: A blooming Mandragora

¤ Front of upper arm (bicep?): Blue save/Main story Crystal and a Harp dedicated towards Bards.

¤ Shoulder: A FF Tactics Bomb

¤ Back of lower forearm: FF 12 Moogle

¤ Wrist: Tonberry and Cactuar

And to tie all these images together will be clouds of smoke, music notes, and white mage curing bubbles. Some images might be shrunk down in order to add a few more things but that's undecided so far. For now I have the white mage, the choco trio and the mandy (i got it last night). Cheer me on, I'm gonna need it!! Cause some of this is gonna hurt o__O.

It's Friday!

Friday the 13th that is! So pull out all the stops to prevent yourself from having an unlucky day :P. So get out those lucky charms folks! Also, tomorrow is Valentine's Day, so make sure to treat your significant other to something nice and special. As for me, I get to be home alone for the lovey dovey crap holiday  cause the hubby has to work both his jobs today and tomorrow. So there will be no special celebrations going on around here. I asked him to get me the game Flower off the PSN though, so that I have something new and colorful to mess with. That will be my virtual bunch of flowers, instead of real ones I'm sure my cats would eat. But to all my wonderful GS buddies, guys and girls alike, I give you a little heart I made with Photoshop. You guys rock! ^^

Anyway, I finally decided to make another lvl in the exciting world of LittleBigPlanet also. I still don't know what I'm doing half the time, but I do hope you all stop in and play on it a little while. It's called "Fantasy Danger!". I started finally playing with more of the games mechanics then with my first lvl, Refridgerator Raiders. And as a matter of fact I finally got my Share trophy last night as well, so that made my night.

Anyway, I'm out for the day. I really should get back to working (I'm still at my job writing this ^^). But for a final thought, if any of you have heard about the tragic incident in the Buffalo, NY area about the 50 reported people who died in the plane crash last night, do keep their friends and families in your thoughts. It's a rough time in all of their lives, especially so close to a holiday about love and friendship.

I have the worst luck

It seems that I have the worst luck when it comes to cell phones. In the last 2 years I've gone through 3, all which have tragically broke because of me being careless somehow. Cell phone companies really should invest in waterproofing so that it would eliminate one huge problem. I've somehow managed to put my cellphones through the washing machine twice to come up with a really clean but ineffective phone. This third time I've managed to get my new phone of only 5 months soaking wet once again. So I've lost all my pics and ringtones, and probably all my phone numbers as well if my card has been ruined too. But I won't know that till I go home this afternoon and try on an old cell I have laying around the apartment. Good news is that it's a working Blackberry Pearl. Bad news is we got that phone used a year ago and it's never been able to send or receive pics or videos. Not sure why *shrugs*.

Besides that rotten luck, I've had a few other issues lately, but I'd just rather not discuss that. I need to focus on some good stuff or I'm going to explode. -__-

Did a few short game reviews today to pass some time. I've started playing FF 12 to bide my time in waiting for number 13 which sadly doesn't hit U.S. until sometime in the middle of 2010 if we're lucky. I'm enjoying 12 tho, as I've already gotten over 53 hours of gameplay so far. Oh and I got a touch up on a tattoo I have on my collarbone. It used to just be a star with a few swirl like lines surrounding it. Now I've gotten the star, but half the swirl lines are covered by a very pretty blue flower with a tiny skull coming out of the middle of it. I'll put the pic up here as soon as I get a new pic. The first one I had was taken on my now very much broken cell phone. -___- Also I'm looking somewhat foward into the new Tenchu game coming out for the Wii. I'm not keeping my hopes up too high since the only really good Tenchu games came out for the ps1. After that they all seem to have gone downhill. The last game I owned from it came on the Nintendo DS and it was just horrible in my eyes. Please, please don't screw this one up for me!! My Wii is lonely and needs a little love too now and again.

So to make myself feel better I wanted to post this silly picture I found. Don't know where it came from, but it makes me laugh all the time. Some of my friends on here I've shared it with already but I figure I'd share it with everyone else and hopefully it will make you giggle or at least say "Wtf" like it did to me.

*Rant*

Games I'd love to have on PS3 ~ Since I don't own a BrokenBox360 >_>

¤ Fable II

¤ Tales of Vesperia

¤ Last Remnant

Ok ok Last Remnant will come out on the PS3(supposedly, blast you SE!!!) but I haven't found a release date yet. I'm just impatient.

Random bloggy

Nothing really exciting going on lately, but I still felt a need to post a random blog....just b/c lol

I've been totally sick since Sunday afternoon. I feel like crap, and I still have to go to work because I'm out of PTO hours til after the new year. I'm ready to just go home and crawl into bed with a warm mug of tea, and my DS. I have no voice either, it's cracked all day. Of course I know when I finally get off work and do get to the bed I'll be trampled by one cat and one kitten

Despite feeling like a truck ran me over, I have been productive besides doing actual work (heaven forbid I do that am I right :P ) b/c for the first time I've posted pics of myself on here. Two are old, one is newish but blurry muhaha. I also worked on a written review of Prince of Persia but after posting it I was disappointed in myself because the review was too short to me. Usually I write a little bit longer so I don't know what happened. O___o

Oh! I suggest everyone listen to the song "Never Enough" by Five Finger Death Punch. I can't stop listening to it lately  I tend to get in moods where I only want to hear one song for a long period of time. That usually drives people nuts  but I promise I can't help it sometimes

Anyway, the new year is upon us soon. Does anyone have any New Year's resolutions? I know I sure don't  I never have been able to keep them more then a month >___>.

Hope everyone's Xmas rawked!

B/c mine was

I had a good time, and saw family I haven't gotten to see in like 3 years so that was pretty special :) No more games just yet lol. It's hard to explain to my old fashioned family that games are not a waste of money. But I did get a few nice sweaters >__> lol. But to make me feel even better I'm picking up Valkyria Chronicles tomorrow muhahaha.

Other then that, I ate too much! And yessss, brought home leftovers!

Xmas and LVL up!

Whoop whoop finally lvl 14! Took a little longer then normal since apparently I used "derrogatory terms" a week or so back and was dropped 40% .

Anyway I probably won't be on here much after today until this coming Monday with this bah humbug holiday rumbling through. I gotta set up my travel plans and head a few hours north to do the all important job of driving my mom nuts on Xmas  and tease her about not making a good step forward in the electronic world (I'm so mean yes I know) :P. I have to replace my very ancient psOne that she still uses (to play Frogger) and replace it with another psOne b/c mine finally stopped reading most of the discs. Hurray for Sony!~ May your parts continue to never break for many more years to come!

Aside from visiting folks and stuffing myself retarded once again, I'm spending the rest of the weekend holed up warm and snuggly to get some valid gaming time in, not counting Playstation Home :P b/c I've now determined it a giant dating service. Although yesterday I was proven that not every day sucks on there when you're female. I made a few accquaintences with a few guys and girls who were not complete douch-bags (can I say that on here? O_o) and wanted to carry on honest conversations. Shocking!

Rofl after playing several hours of the new Prince of Persia ~ I've deemed to like it very much! Despite the fact that it's almost painfully easy. My only real annoyance is the constant having to hit the L2 to strike conversation between our fearless (and nameless) prince of theives and Elika. At least the banter has quite a bit of humor. Especially so far when he tries to make her play "I spy" with him. So when I come back from the holidays I'll probably write my review and such.

Anyway it seems that I took what was going to be a one paragraph rant into several lol. So I'll close saying I wish everyone of my friends here on Gamespot a very Merry Xmas, Blessed Yuletide, Happy Hanukka, Happy Kwanzaa, Boxing Day and every other celebration I don't know about.

*kitty tackles to everyone*

A funeral for the Wii sensor bar and new games!

An interesting event turned sad this Saturday afternoon as I had to have a short but sweet funeral for my Wii sensor bar lol. This weekend I was making the most of not having to work, or do anything for that matter. So what better way then to sit on my butt all weekend and finish a few games I got laying around. So I decided it would be a great time to try and finish Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New world.

About the 28th hour into it I noticed that the little feather/quill/whatever thing that shows up on the screen as the Wii's pointer for this game was gone. Not that I really needed it at that time. All it's used for is to point and click for the Socerer's Ring anyway. Then in the middle of Celcius' dungeon I needed it, and it still wouldn't show up. Miffed but not concerned I didn't think anything of it, saved the game and took a quick lunch break, thinking it wasn't showing up b/c I had just replaced the Wii remotes batteries.

I came back turned back on the Wii and THEN I noticed I couldn't even choose the game. WTF I wondered. Mebbie my new little kitten had somehow jarred a cord loose b/c she likes to hide behind my entertainment center. Nope, cord secure. Hmmmmm... so on a hunch I pulled on the extremely long cord. Yep....that little bugger chewed all the way thru it.....Then I was mad. She had nom nom'd my cord and I had no way to finish my game Q_Q!

Luckily for me my wonderful hubby brought home a wireless one for me when he came home from work. But the damage had been done and I didn't get to finish the game like I had planned. Mebbie tonight!

Sunday he came home with my early Xmas gifts too XD! Prince of Persia and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia woohoo!! New trophies and some DS lovin', I'm excited. It would have been Eternal Sonata as well, but both gamestores in town were sold out. Sadness.

And I had other stuff I wanted to write about, but my brain went to mush just now. O__o......
