Yes. Yes you should play it. The second disc thing is over exaggerated. It could've been better, but I think they were pressed for time at that point. But it really is a great game. Some of the best story telling in an RPG. Very intelligent and will make you think, although it can be a bit confusing at times. Still a wonderful gem. I'm glad I own a physical copy of it still.

I still go back and play some of the classics. A lot of older games still hold up well and are still a blast to play after all of these years. Also, if you haven't already, you should try the Streets of Rage fan made remake. It's a blast and even surpasses the originals surprisingly. I may also take a another run through the PC Baldurs Gate game sand maybe the Icewind Dales as well, lol.I see a crash happening if people ever get sick of online FPS's. Activision would go bankrupt overnight and EA wouldn't be far behind. Every time they close a studio or lay off a bunch of people they talk about "focusing their assets" or some other corporate gibberish - what they've actually done is put all their eggs in one basket. When they need to change direction in the future, and they will eventually, they won't have anyone who's capable of leading the way. Instead of the head of a development studio pitching ideas they'll have MBA's running around analyzing charts.
I think the problem with Square Enix is they lost a ton of money with that whole Final Fantasy XIV debacle and BS'ed their shareholders by doubling the sales estimates for other games. Then when those games didn't meet the inflated predictions, blah blah blah.
Oh well, I'm saving up to build a gaming PC so I can go back and play some of my favorite games of this gen with better graphics, frame rates and a bunch of mod's. Instead of buying the latest release in some milked-to-death franchise I figure I may as well go back and play the older games from when they were still created by developers, not focus groups. And I'll pick up whatever new games interest me too, should there be any.

Video games aren't selling as well as they used too? COD breaks sales records every year.. there are just too many people playing COD and not trying other games.Rattlesnake_8Call of Duty is just one game franchise, and an exception. I'm talking about in general. Video game sales are down by 22% as well. I guess you could argue that maybe Battlefield may be another, but honestly, in the general consensus, the numbers don't lie, amigo.
After hearing about having to pay to unlock a difficulty mode in the new metro game, it seems like its only a matter of time before you have to pony up some cash in order to use standard features such as running or even jumping in games. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it wouldn't shock me if that comes to fruition.
I thought DLC was a cool feature at first, but soon enough companies started to abuse it to an extent (capcom on disc dlc, online passes, keeping content from the game in order to pay to have it unlocked later down the road, etc). EA being one of the biggest offenders (Sims 3 DLC, ETC).
People think another video game crash won't happen, but I have to say, its already here. Studios closing left and right, squenix not making profit from tomb raider after 2.1 MILLION sales. With the cost of next gen going up to make games, I don't see how a lot of these studios will stay in business if 2.1 million can't even generate you enough profit. One of the major causes of this crash I think will be bad practices with DLC and such, but maybe the indies can help save it before it gets to an all time ridiculous low. Not only that, but video games aren't selling as well as they use to be either.
Oh well, I've got a crap ton of backlog games to work on (even ps2 games). It wouldn't bug me if a crash or some sort happens. My backlog is gigantic and there are great games out there already that I have yet to try out. Speaking of that, maybe I should go ahead and get working on Dragon Age Origins and finish up Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Then Dragon Age II to see what the hate is about. :)
Thoughts?
FF8 was the reason I haven't played FF9 until 2009. My trust in the series stopped after FF8, but I'm SO GLAD I eventually got around to playing FF9. Such a far, FAR superior game IMO.
In fact, I might replay it. Right now.
Saw this coming a mile away. People thought it was harmless buying DLC and supporting it, but they didn't see the big picture. Which is this right here folks. Its happening. Pretty soon, you will have to pay 4 bucks just to have the ability to run in video games.
I don't like saying I told ya so, but well..I did.
No way. I have so many games I have yet to play that I own that its ridiculous.
Also, I just bought a 3DS XL and I'm glad that I waited. The wait was worth it because of the games out for it now and the awesome games coming out for it soon as well. (Okay I mainly bought it for Link to the past 2.) Also, just like I expected, they would make a revision for it, a great revision at that, and the price dipped ALOT since launch. It's a great device with great games to play for it. If anything, I'll be buying more 3DS games in the future to even worry about a next gen console for 3 years or hell even FOUR years. I didn't get a PS2 until 2005 and a PS3 until almost 2010.
I don't know, it just seems like a waste to buy consoles on launch. Might as well wait until they work the kinks out, get a revision, and more importanty, get a good library of great games to play for it. I still have a HUGE PS2, DS and PS3 backlog to catch up on, and also PC games as well. I have so much to play, that the next gen consoles could come out in the year 2030, and I still wouldn't care.
