is this the most overrated game of 2010 so far?

sikanderahmed
No, Super Mario Galaxy 2 still holds its position as most overrated game of the year.

By the way let's talk about standards. In 2007 Super Mario Galaxy won Gamespot's Overall Game of the Year. 2007 was a pretty tough year, there were games on other platforms that scored a 9.5... but SMG won. Huh, I guess SMG wasn't graded on a lower standard because of the Wii, seeing as it was able to beat out other 9.5 rated games on other platforms.

Now for the absurd theory that standards even vary when picking GOTY, a Wii game is more likely to win than a PC game of equal quality? Is that your explanation?

You better hope that Super Mario Galaxy 2 wins Gamespot's Game of the Year 2010, or your theory is totally disproved. Hang on a second...your argument is already fundamentally flawed. Gamespot gave Demon's Souls Game of the Year 2009 even though it got a lower score than Uncharted 2, a game from the same system.

Super Mario Galaxy would have got, at the most, a score of 9.5 if it was on PC, unless the PC version was given a massive graphics overhaul, and if surround sound support was added. Excluding the fact that PC games can never get a 10 because the platform is ever-evolving, seriously, how could a game that doesn't even support standard 5.1 surround sound score a perfect 10 on PC?

PS3 is the only right answer.

Snagal123
Oh dear. The ludicrous PS3 fanboy 'only logical choice' claims have returned, even after they were completely disproved in my other thread. Consoles fanboys define failure. [QUOTE="washd123"]

my ps3 was a matter of convience

i can stream all my media

i can use it as a blu-ray player

it plays console exclusives.

Blu-ray drives are so cheap now that the Blu-ray argument counts for nothing against PC. And why would you even want to play console exclusives....most of them are trash.

I've played a lot of shooters - it's not slow paced, it can be incredibly fast at times.Ravensmash
Yes, Halo is good compared to other console shooters, but compared to Counter Strike and especially Quake, Halo is slow.
Ive watched some quake videos and I agree with you on Halo not being the most skilled, but ti does take more then alot of people admit.tehsystemwarior
Of course; any FPS game like that (even on consoles) still requires skill, and can still be taken to reasonable levels with practice.
Watching quake videos leaves with my mouth open alot.tehsystemwarior
Yes, the professional Quake players really were in another league than modern console FPS gamers. Console games can still take skill, just not anywhere near as much as Quake or Counter Strike.

I think PC graphics are overrated. What now?n00bkid
Saying this is the same as saying that real life's graphics are overrated. If you actually think this, then fair enough.

Unfortunately for you console scum, every generation you get repeatedly destroyed by PC gaming. Hope you're looking forward to the end of this generation. Time's running out. ;)CentricStorm

Well despite your rather harsh statement, it's true. Steam & Valve really show gamers true respect and how they should be treated... Unlike Microsoft and even less so Sony. =/

... Remember games for Windows Live?:P

games for windows, and games for windows live are bad? odd last I checked they worked, and nothing was wrong with either standard, they were a set of standards to make sure all games worked, and worked well on most computers...something that far from happens now. and sorry please don't mistake gaining sales and money=respect. valve doesn't respect you, Valve thinks they know your habits, valve knows what you want, in an effort to gain profit and lots of it they give you want you want, its no different from what sony, and Microsoft does, the acquisition of profit by any means, Microsoft and Sony's idea of what every one want is different, so is Valves but do not mistake any companies stance towards its users and practices as respect, its a method by which to gain sales.

I think he's refering to the Games for Windows Live subscription fiacso. Microsoft weren't showing the PC gamers any respect by attempting to charge for their mediocre service, so PC gamers didn't pay, and Microsoft got owned. Ever since then, Microsoft have felt bitter about it, hence why they temporarily reduced their software support of PC games. Then they realised that they needed PC gaming to boost and maintain Windows' popularity in the future, so they have now come grovelling back to PC gaming, effectively owning themselves a second time.

The people posting in this thread in support of the PS3 are joking, right? Console game graphics are abysmal compared to Crysis. Crysis achieved photorealism that won't be matched for years, and can never be beaten, seeing as there is no such thing as better than photorealistic.

Say hello to Casualfield 3. Slow pace, no recoil, low bullet spread, no prone, poor graphics, small maps and aim assist - the game where everyone wins.
