Why do you think consoles are becoming redundant Mystic? I think if anything, consoles are finally finding their place in the world of entertainment. They're stepping above being just a games machine which parents buy their kids to keep them entertained, to a genuine item which your average person will go out and buy. Whilst people may not play all the games a PS3 or an XBox has available, they'll buy one for the bluray player, or streaming, or making it a multimedia server, or for Netflix. Maybe you mean that the gaming part of consoles is becoming redundant?

Will the free to play games be coming out at launch though? Resogun does look nice that's for sure, and I like the look of Contrast as well. I'm really keen to see the other indie games come out on the PS4 - Outlast being one of them.

I bought Battlefield with the knowledge that my stats will remain on PS4. Plus since I'll only have on PS4 I'll still be able to play BF4 in my bedroom.

Because of my holiday at the end of the year, I'm not seeing any logic in me dropping $550+ on a console which I'll play for two weeks then won't touch for a month and a half. No doubt the PS4 will have great titles over the next nine months or so, but for now there's nothing that's grabbing my attention.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised as well. I do love my PS3 a lot, and I still play my Wii sometimes, but I have no interest in Microsoft games. I tried the 360 - much to my wife's disappointment - and the cost of maintaining a Gold membership and buying games for it just isn't possible for me. I'd much rather pour my money into a system that I routinely play rather than one that disappoints me when I do play it. As for the launch titles with the XBone, they really don't interest me except for the third party games that I can get on the PS4.

Lego Marvel does look like a lot of fun, but I find myself getting bored with the Lego games pretty quickly. This one does look like it improves on the tired old formula though of collecting studs all over the place and having many other characters to play.

I don't think I'll ever understand peoples infatuation with buying new things - ipads, PS4's, samsung galaxy's - and shooting them or throwing them in a blender. But, it does look cool.

I hated the selective shipping. I buy a lot of DVD's from Amazon when they have random sales and for some reason there are some DVD's that they won't send to Australia. It's pathetic really because there's no obvious reason why they won't send them to Australia.

I'm curious to see how the Amazon Australia page goes because I'm certain the prices still will be high. I doubt we'll be seeing cheaper priced items like in the US. Also, I'm curious to see whether they'll offer similar offers that Amazon US has offered as well - buy two get one free for next gen games.

Personally as well I'm really disappointed in Sony right now. The fact that they were aiming for mediocrity with Knack as one of their launch titles - and only one of two proper exclusive titles for the PS4 at launch as well, which is disappointing - is alarming. They were hoping for 7's and got 5's. Now, if you're releasing a new console, then you should be aiming for 11's. Especially when one of the lead architects of the console is creating one of the launch games. The fact that there's hardly any enticing launch titles means I'll probably hold off getting a PS4 til Infamous: Second Son comes out in March as that's really one of the few titles I've been dying to play.

Right now, on paper, I'd say the XBone could easily win the launch of the new consoles with more games being available and simply better variety. If I do end up buying the PS4 on launch day, I'll probably choose a couple of games that I usually wouldn't play just so I have something to play on it (I'm considering Need for Speed: Rivals and Lego Marvel Heroes). Argh. Decisions decisions.

I'm sure the Xbone will have one as well. It seems to be the new thing to do. I can imagine that what it is is that once they have made the consoles, they of course need to be boxed and sent to the facilities. So whilst they are sitting in their boxes for a couple of weeks of course Sony would be tinkering with the back end and prepping whatever updates they need to. Makes sense.

Re: usernames on PSN. I'd like to change mine, but then again, I'm quite happy with JinglesEnid (even though it confuses the shit out of people playing Battlefield) and I'm sure that I'd just change it to something stupid like JinglesChickan or something like that.

Grid 2, Guacamelee!, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, Sonic All Star Racers Transformed, Contrast and Resogun are all the games for PSPlus next month. Not bad I think. Guacamelee! is great - my personal game of the year.

Deciding whether I truly need to pick up a PS4 right away or whether I should just wait til the new year. I'll only be playing Battlefield 4 on it which I'm playing on PS3 right now. I'll decide the day before I think. Might even just flip it for a hundred bucks more on gumtree.
