i would be using this for gaming at 1152x864 with an amd x2 4400+ cpu. i'm not concerned with running things on high really, as this is just a stopgap until i build my new machine. im just looking for something that will give me enough power to play current and upcoming games for the next few months (until summer at the latest).

i've been collecting parts as i see them on sale with plans of building a couple of new boxes, but i've been holding off on the ram due to exorbitant price points. i was aware of the overproduction of ddr2 -- i managed to snag 4GB of corsair xms2 for around 35 bucks last year for an older computer. i assume i won't be seeing any prices that low again?

as we all know, due to the cyclical nature of RAM prices, they are unbelievably high at the moment. any expectations as to when they'll be reasonable (or even better..dirt cheap) again?

was this the "topic of the century" the other million and one times its been brought up in system wars?
