Flutie converts first drop kick since 1941

Flutie converts first drop kick since 1941 championship ESPN.com news services FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Doug Flutie added another oddity to his football resume on Sunday when he converted a drop kick in the fourth quarter of the New England Patriots' game against the Miami Dolphins. It was the league's first drop kick since the 1941 NFL championship game, according to the Web site for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. With starting quarterback Tom Brady sitting out most of the season-ending game, backup Matt Cassel threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Tim Dwight to cut Miami's lead to 25-19 with 6:10 left in the game. Flutie, who was listed as the No. 3 QB, came in for the extra point and lined up at quarterback. After a timeout, Flutie took the snap, dropped the ball and kicked it off a short hop through the uprights for one point. He ran off the field and embraced coach Bill Belichick. According to the Hall of Fame site, Chicago's Ray "Scooter" McLean converted the last drop kick for an extra point in the Bears' 37-9 victory over the New York Giants on Dec. 21, 1941. The dropkick remains in the NFL's official rule book, even though it hadn't been successfully converted in decades. Rule 3, Section 8 defines the drop kick as "a kick by a kicker who drops the ball and kicks it as, or immediately after, it touches the ground." According to the Hall of Fame site, ex-Bears quarterback Jim McMahon, begged his coach for a chance to attempt a dropkick in a game. But his coach, Mike Ditka, denied the request. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

What we (Chiefs) need to have happen to make the playoffs.

What we (Chiefs) need to have happen to make the playoffs. What we (Chiefs) need to have happen to make the playoffs. 1. The Denver Broncos need to defeat the Chargers on Saturday. (Denver Broncos (12-3) @ San Diego Chargers (9-6) 3:30 PM) 2. We (Chiefs) need to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals. (Game is Cincinnati Bengals (11-4) @ Kansas City Chiefs (9-6) 12 PM) 3. The Detroit Lions need to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers. (Detroit Lions (5-10) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (10-5) 12 PM) If all of that happens, then we are in the playoffs. So cheer on the Broncos (I can't believe I am saying that) and that Lions. You may ask why do the Chargers have to lose? The answer is here. A Chargers win (note: although Chargers have been eliminated, if they win vs. Broncos and they, the Chiefs and the Steelers all finish at 10-6, you would break division ties first. Chargers would win tiebreaker vs. Chiefs based on common opponents (8-4 vs 7-5) and that would eliminate the Chiefs. They would then go to tiebreaker vs. Steelers, which Pittsburgh would win based on its head-to-head win vs. Chargers)

Things on Television that annoy me

Things on Television that annoy me 1. Scooter from MLB on Fox- What purpose does he surve? The only purpose I see is that he takes up time and tells you some stupid fact that you already know. 2. ESPN Sayings SportsCenter is next. No kidding its next. We got it the first time. I do not need you to repeat it every time there is a break in the action. 3. That stupid Dish network commerical where the kids giggles when the father said he can pause time. I just hate that one. 4. The prick who is in fitness made simple adds. I hope he dies. The worst part of all is that the cable company gets money from him and puts that advertisement over some other one. 5. I do not like is when I am watching the NFL on CBS (Fox is much better) and they say CBS americas number one watch network. Well guess what CBS its not in my book. I dont watch you that much at all except for the NFL. Also what makes you the most watched and how do you figure that out and come to the conclusion that you are? 6. Shannon Sharpe on the NFL Today.... can someone please teach this guy to annunciate his words. I don't understand him half the time and he talks way to fast. 7. One that used to, but I have not seen it in so long (thank god) was the Ronnie Douch commercial atterney at law. Just shut up! There are more I am sure I omitted but oh well.
