The poster of this thread is an imbecile. Here's a link to something posted on IGN earlier today:

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/775/775342p1.html

The title of the article is: "UK Stores Reporting Potential PS3 Sell-out"

I fail to see how the launch of the PS3 in Europe has been a total failure.

Cheers,

You need to read the full article.

I have read the full article. It clearly states that PS3s are selling well and that there is a POTENTIAL that demand is being met. I do not understand what it is that I am missing. "Although the PS3 launch hasn't been the mad scramble we saw when Wii was released, retailers in central London are reporting steady sales on the first day of the console's availability in Europe, with some anticipating a sell out over the weekend." And so on. It mentions the Wii in there somewhere to, but still talks of the PS3s initial success. Cheers, - C

The writing is atrocious ("seams", instead of "seems", comes to mind), and your opinion isn't supported by anything factual, just personal conjecture. Next time you feel the need to post something, spell-check it. I'm not being nit-picky, I just like to read things that make grammatical sense, as other adults do.

In before the impending lock!

Resistance, Genji, Untold Legends and Oblivion. On a related note, I just picked Oblivion up today and have noticed that it plays better on PS3 than on my AM2 socket 940, dual-core 4200+, 512M 7800 gtx pc. What's the deal with that? Smoother framerate, nicer textures and everything! Oh, and the lack of crashes, bugs and freezes in the PS3 version of the game is a nice change too. Feels like an entirely different game, actually.  And is it just my joy at playing a silky smooth Oblivion, or are the people a little less ugly?  (Something for which Oblivion is quite renowned.)

Cheers,

Yes, it was a PC/ 360 "exclusive"

Now it's comming to the PS3; as some sort of "special edition", I suspect.

That was my point.  Exclusives are being lost all around, people only seem to drop a pumpernickel loaf in their pants when it happens to the PS3. Capcom is a software slut, I can see them porting all sorts of things to the PS3 as it continues to pick up steam - Lost Planet comes to mind. (It's a crap game, and one of the aliens looks precisely like a vagina but whatever)

All this winging about loosing exclusives, and we forget about all the sweet stuff comming the way of the PS3.

Two Worlds: Temptation (speculative name) looks like a pimped up version of Oblivion with nicer (less, 'beaten-with-the-ugly-stick') models.

There's info about a retailer leaking it on 1up (to be taken with a grain of salt, I know) as well as a few other sites.

Genji, while flawed, is fun and frivolous.  Like a pretty girl/ boy that you bring home after a few drinks, have some fun with, yet don't really want to talk to in the morning.

But instead of awkward conversation, you can just trade it in when you're done :)

Genji gets my vote.  But don't expect it to win any scripting or localization awards. It does showcase the PS3's graphical capabilities quite nicely though.

Forgot about VF5.  Changed the header to: "Another AAA" game.

Sure the reviewer is a little odd and nondescript, and none of the complaints he makes are really valid (one of those: "I could give it a 10, but if I had to find something wrong with it..." sorta reviews); but a 9.5 nonetheless!

It's a great day to own a PS3. Lot's of amazing things on the horizon. Games are starting to flow, not trickle. Home is comming in the fall. A price drop is on the horizon (and not because Sony is scared, it's because they're restructuring marketing costs, selling more BluRay and giving us the drop that was promised).

I think people often confuse Sony's silence with arrogance (with the exclusion of some of Ken's comments, as he's a little insane). When a school-yard bully is shouting obscenities at you, you do the mature thing and ignore him or her. I am glad that - for the most part - they have shouldered the negativity (which they could have focused on and responded to, thus generating MORE negative attention) and continued to provide us, the consumer, with an increasingly sunny and realized vision.

(Yes some of it is bulls#$t, but they are a major corporation and not our best friend, so that is to be expected.)

Cheers to all the PS3 fans! It's a good time to be one.

I've played through the entire DMC series (including that "special edition").  I honestly don't that I'm robbed of anything by the series going multiplatform.  The gameplay of the DMC series is it's only real strength (let's face it, the scripting and localization are garbage), and that gameplay is now being emulated in much better games - Heavenly Sword, GOW 1& 2, etc.; ones which have much more palatable stories attached to them.  Furthermore, you can't really blame Sony for loosing a 3rd party exclusive.

Many have said that we are looking at an age that marks the end of exclusives, and I believe it.  I suspect it's only a matter of time before Lost Planet and whatever else comes over to the PS3.  Remember the day when it was "clearly" stated that Oblivion would NEVER be on the PS3?  Well, I'm picking it up today :)

Platform, shmatform, it's a great time to be a gamer.  I am no less content with my system just because a game I might purchase will appear on another platform.  The devs stated that the game will be optimized for each platform and that's all that matters (so that we avoid lazy, unispired, poorly-coded ports).

Cheers,
- C
