That quote was by the author of the piece in reply to a comment attempting to debunk what he said, so I don't really see what point you were trying to make in posting that either tbh.
@Payasoplas ADS seems like a useless feature to me since it slows your movement speed. Unless, of course, you don't prioritize keeping your face from getting eaten off by a xeno.
Why is this even a feature on a gaming NEWS site? So it's an opinion piece/editorial. OK. However, I can't help but feel this is something that belongs on a personal blog.
But what the hell, anything for increased site traffic, eh?
Mass Effect 3's ending wasn't a "challenge" to its audience. It was a slap in the face.
I'm growing really tired of all the arguments going back and forth about "art." Not artistic integrity, but art in general. It just seems to me that people who argue that video games are an artistic medium are seeking validation for their passion in enjoying a goddamn hobby. Validation from whom? The elite few who arbitrarily tell us that so and so is acceptable? That it was all for the sake of artistic vision? Because that's what art in Western civilization has been considered as. Somebody created something out of his/her imagination, while another individual finds it aesthetically pleasing, meeting a certain set of criteria, and BAM, it becomes art (It's only been fairly recently in human history that people have been looking at functional objects in other more "primitive" civilizations, and saying that said objects can be considered art). Now saying that we should just accept what we got...THAT is spoon feeding. And I won't have this s*** shoved down my throat, especially not if it means pulling money out of my pockets.
ME 3's ending was objectively bad. BUT BIOWARE IS NOT CHANGING IT. Why the hell do people keep talking like that's exactly what the developers are doing? They are simply adding to it. How is this a bad thing? If anything, this is the most unique thing the interactive electronic medium has going for it. Why? Because it's all digital. It doesn't--strictly speaking--actually EXIST. Adding to it doesn't alter the original vision. It's still their in digital form.
I realize that I'm waxing philosophical with my previous statements. But what I'm trying to say is that ME 3's extended cut is actually a good thing in that it shows that power doesn't rest with the few trying to get people to accept a steaming pile of crap, but with those that know something is broken when they see it. And I'm not trying to dis Bioware at all. I absolutely appreciate the hard work the developers put into their game, and I enjoyed it immensely.
However, I'm willing to make the concession that it's perfectly fine to like the ending we actually got. That just comes down to something very fundamental (and mostly subjective) in science fiction: suspension of disbelief, basically, how much you're willing to let the writers get away with. Some felt the default ending provided adequate closure, while others (including myself) felt that not only are there far too many blanks that need to be filled, but that the developers didn't even bother attempting to address them in the first place.
