Digital games on ps3 or Xbox 360 are a bit like inferior physical copies - you'll be able to play them as long as you own your old system and have them on your hard disk. I guess as long as you don't delete them you'll be able to play them as they usually don't require an internet connection, but if you delete them or your disk dies (and you don't have some kind of backup) they'll probably be gone. Preserving a library of old consoles games that you'll be able to play in the future is problematic as hell and offering a few selected titles that you'll have to buy every time a new system is introduced or making me pay for a streaming service (again, with selected titles available) is not a satisfactory solution.

It doesn't look stunning technically, but it has that nice, distinct, clean visual aestethic of Metal Gear games. I like it. Too bad I won't have the money to buy a ps4 in march :/ And I kinda don't wanna play the inferior version so I won't get the ps3 version either. It's gonna be so hard to have to wait.

@A8ADD0N @Claudu @Nev3rtime And the third party support probably won't happen, because nobody sees the wii u as core gamer system. I can understand Nintendo going cheap, but innovative after the GameCube flopped. But both wii and nds sold extremely well and Nintenfo could've invested in a truly next gen system and try to get back into the main race. We can all talk about how the gameplay is what really matters (and that's true), but let's not kid ourselves here, we all need and crave those new shiny graphics as well.

@A8ADD0N @Nev3rtime And to imagine jrpgs sold systems back in the day... Anyway, Nintendo kinda f... themselves up. Wii was a one-off. To stay relevant you need the gamers crowd and Nintendo kinda abondoned gamers by releasing a granny friendly last-gen box with motion controls. Sure, there were some great games on the system, but I managed to play through all games I was interested on Wii by borrowing the system from a friend for a month.

@bill2theE A good d-pad is essential for fighting games (if you don't play with a stick) and 2d side scrolling games. Also, ps3 controller is essentially the same as the ps2 one. Sure, the triggers suck, but everything else (including its size) is exactly the same. So it's strange that you loved Dual Shock 2 and hated Dual Shock 3.

@ceaseless I loved the Dual Shock 2 too (it didn't have the silly triggers of DS3). The only downfall was the fact that the analog sticks tended to get loose really quickly and didn't center themselves which was a pain in games with more sensitive controls.

@Amandamarvell @Claudu I'm not so sure about all that. New PC games are usually cheaper, that's true, but it's almost impossible to borrow a PC game from a friend these days. Also, why the hell would you need a new console model unless your old one dies? Doesn't make much sense IMO. For me the biggest reason to abandon consoles is the fact that there isn't much in terms of games library to distinguish them from PC. Back in the day most console games were console or system exclusives. Now it's mostly multiplatform games with an odd exclusive here and there. That's why I'm building a gaming PC now and I'll think about a ps4 next year.

@Amandamarvell I can agree with a lot of what you're saying , but cheaper?! What? How? Where? If you know a place where I can buy a PC that beats next gen consoles for less than $400 then please tell me where that dreamland is located. I will head there immediately and buy me some gaming rigs.

@dbene The 360 controller was only good for shooters. And I know it may sound like a revelation to you, but not everybody plays shooters on console! The RB&LB buttons suck and the d-pad is one of the worst ever made.

@Penguinlord1 Apparently they are, at least a little bit. I have both Drakengard and Drakengard 2. Never got around to play them though. But I love Nier as well.
