hmm i can get a gtx 460 for 130 dollars and id be able to carry that over when i upgrade my mobo and cpu, but would that be a bottlenecking nightmare? how much fps would i say get on crysis, at 1280x768 with settings on high but not very high
and the pentium D isnt a core2duo equivalent its worse

Well then you're not really "building" a new PC. You're just adding a GPU.
And yes, a 4850 is still a great buy. I would recommend a 5750 instead, however, because I'm afraid the 4850 uses quite a bit of power. The 5750 doesn't.
well it seems the 4850 just went out of stock so i might get that 5750
my specs so far(please dont tell me my cpu is bad)
cpu: Pentium D 3.4ghz
Ram: 3gb
GPU: ???
i need a gpu that wont be bottlenecked by my cpu too much and possibly 100 dollars or around that much, i also apologize for having the same topic in the software forum, i did that by accident
Is that even a dual core? If so, I think it's good. Only $100 for the GPU? You should get at least a GTX 460 for $130 or so.
Also you should try the hardware forum.

oh yea it is a dual core but i think it was the first one to come out, i heard that a 5770 was too much for my cpu so i wouldnt even try with a gtx 460, and i apologize about posting in software forum, it was a mistake, ill repost in hardware
and activate on steam, the thing is that this game is out, and when you activate it it says you own the full 30 dollar game i dont know if it will stay that way but not many codes are left so go and see
