Just because somebody decides to not to report their issues online or in a forum doesn't mean that the issues don't exist. Out of 4000 people, how many do you think would report defects? Or have already called Sony instead of posting it online?Compare that to millions of people with the console.

When did IGN first report that they had a defective PS4? When the NEOGAF user started posting. Before that, we had no idea that IGN had a defective console, and they've already had the PS4 for a while already.

And no, you can't just say that all electronic devices have failure rates. Companies must be responsible for their product and ensure the product goes through rigorous testing before ever releasing it into consumers hands.

It is not the fault of the consumer as to why the product they purchased is defective, it is the company's fault. No matter how you put it, the consumer put trust into the company by purchasing their product.

Especially because these companies already KNOW the problems that plague consoles. If they had done enough testing on the product, they would have been able to at least solve its problems, it appears to me now that Sony might have rushed their product, the same could be said for the Xbox One, but that remains to be seen.

The fact of the matter is that it is UNACCEPTABLE that these consoles are still experiencing defects and failures even though both companies have already had experience with both.

Please cite to me your statistics on failure rates of gadgets aside from consoles. You can't just say that the failure rate of consoles applies to all gadgets.

I agree, the Xbox 360 had a very huge failure rate, the PS3 also failed me(YLOD) but it didn't fail most as much as the Xbox 360, but you can't apply that situation to now. We are talking about PRESENT consoles.

I think you believe that I am a Xbox Fanboy, but I am far from that, I just want to take on the realistic view on things. I will buy both consoles as I am a avid console gamer.

I wanted to buy a PS4 on Christmas and now that I've heard of reports of this, I have been turned off from it.

@Opus_Rea-333:

And yet the OP in the Neogaf forum complaining about his PS4 not working switched his hard drive for another one and it still did not work.

I don't think it is a hard drive issue.

**UPDATE** 2

For shits and giggles, swapped the hard drive for a fresh one, that also didn't work.

**UPDATE** 3 I AM NOT THE TWITCH GUY!!!!, also the hdd trick didnt work for me.

While it does suck for those who got a bad console, I'll wait and see. There are always lemons especially with the launch of a new product. Sony is shipping out hundreds of thousands of consoles for launch if not over a million so, a few cases isn't much at all when you think about it. It seems like a big deal because it's the internet age and people are posting about it right away. We won't know how wide spread this is until the console if fully launched worldwide and we can get more then like 10 -20 people out of hundred of thousands of consoles that will be released on launch.

Like I said, the PS4 has not been launched yet. The only people who have it are prize winners and reviewers and they have already reported issues.

There aren't hundreds of thousands of PS4's out in the wild yet because it isn't being sold yet, the only people who have the PS4 now are people who won prizes, and reviewers.

Seeing that the few un/lucky people who have the console are already reporting issues, one can only assume that the more consoles that will be released to consumers, the more issues we will see.

3 or 4 reports means everywhere huh?

3 or 4 reports for a console that has not even launched yet is a lot. The console has not even launched yet.

Only a few people own it, and IGN/Kotaku report the same issues.

Open your eyes for once and quit being biased. I am not happy about this at all because I plan to buy both the PS4 and Xbox One.

What upsets me the most about this is the fact that there is still a chance that the console you are buying is defective.

You would think that these companies would have learned about their past mistakes(over 7 years) and not create a defective product.

IGN Quote: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/11/14/broken-playstation-4-systems?utm_campaign=fbposts&utm_source=facebook

"Oddly enough, we tried adding light pressure to the top of console and it briefly flickered a few active home menu images on the television."

Could this mean that there is a design issue with the PS4?

Also, the lack of support and comment from Sony is disheartening.

IGN updated their article and they did indeed have a defective PS4, and they tried a variety of methods to fix it, including changing the HDMI cable and nothing worked. They eventually got a replacement from Sony.

People who think these cases are isolated are in for a huge wake up call come Friday. The fact of the matter that Kotaku and IGN had the same issues, and the few people who had gotten the PS4 early due to a taco bell promo means there will be a lot of issues come launch day.

Take note, the PS4 has not even launched yet(the only people who have it are either reviewers or lucky winners) and there are already issues.

Best idea is to wait until the problem is fixed before buying it.

@handssss:

Nope. The OP of the thread is different from the guy from twitch. And it appears that the guy from twitch broke it again after fixing it, http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=715057&page=76

Hi11Zones(twitch guy) is not the OP of the thread. The OP of the thread is Dylx, so there are two different guys having the same issues.
