You have to have DX compabilble hardware AND software. Until DX10 is broken for XP, you MUST have DX10 hardware (ATI's 2900 or Nvidia's 8400 and higher) and Vista.

Correction: ATi 2400 or Nvidia 8400 or Higher. 2400, 2600, and 2900 w/ 1gb gddr4 are available now

win 95 does supports up to directx 8.

Regardless I played cod2 on win95 in directx9 graphics mode mode just for giggles, because I was doing teh 'impo$$ibLE'...

Don't take everything mirosoft says as the truth and you will be able to enjoy more flexibility with their operating system. The internet is your friend, microsoft just wan'ts your money. There is already an underground crack for directx10 in the works. If vista can be cracked....which it can and is...:lol: then directx10 will be bought to xp, an OS hackers are much more familiar with.

Thats not very nice. Just because consoles are always a generation behind doesnt mean you have to smug about it. Yes, 95 can run dx8, Yes, dx10 on xp isnt that far away, doesnt mean that anyone is wrong for thinking it wont happen. lol, im just ribbing you guys.

Computer code is puddy, it just takes time to mold it into what you want it to do. It doesnt matter if someone thinks it will or wont happen, because it will. The question is time, which, ironically, in time, wont matter. lol.

What seems painfully obvious that all of the "DX10 on XP" yay-sayers are ignoring is: It is just a mod making DX10 games compatible with XP, not actually putting DX10 on XP. Is there a difference? Maybe its only technical, but it is not the same as having DX10 running on XP.

Liken it to running an N64 game on an emulator for your PC. Do you have an N64? No. Do you have an N64's functionality? You betcha. Currently, I run XP, and probably will for another year so a mod making a DX10 game playable on XP is a Very Good Thing, I just happen to not like how some people claim that DX10 will in fact be modded to XP.

It seems to be a mod that will need to be performed individually for every DX10 game, exactly how every emulated game from the C64 up to Halo had to be individually created.

I can def. see where your coming from, however, that article seems to have been taken out of context. they were not doing anything to any game, they were reverse engineering dx10 out of vista, not creating some kind dx10 VMware. Also, I dont think comparing that to an emulator is accurate at all. Im not a Yay-sayer, because honestly, by time something was even workable, SP1 for Vista will be out and xp will be fading away, making it nothing special anymore.

But that wasnt the question/topic. will it be on xp? Maybe, people out there seem to clearly be working on it.

Before you make any decisions and start buying stuff, I would recommend checking video card temp. - you can do that with software that comes with the video card/drivers. Do this to verify it isnt or is a video card issue, which would make the PSU the main suspect.
