It's not a logical fallacy if the review sites that are chosen are proven entities. In that, they have hundreds to thousands of reviews with scores that are similar to the scoring of the general public, thus granting that site a high level of accuracy and precision with regards to reviews.

All the sites that can be chosen should have an area on the site dedicated to the opinion of gamers, as well as, the reviewer his or her self.

Gamespot, IGN, Gametrailers, etc. are all viable.

drj077

In that respect you would be right. But very few are proven entitities and some people just take any reviewers opinion as fact.

I just thought I should point this out. Using a bunch of reviews as a basis for evidence is a logical fallacy. It's called a testimonial because you're saying that because a reviewer says it's good that it's objectively good. In the case of Metacritic, it's a logical fallacy in two ways because of the testimonial and the bandwagon technique. The bandwagon technique is essentially saying that because a bunch of people say it's true that you should jump on the bandwagon.

However...on Metacritic you will find that the 360 has 17 AAA games while the PS3 only has 9. Also, some of the reviews you will find there will reveal that many cross platform games are better on the 360.Pimpshigity21

I can conceit to this then.

But the PS3 is thriving at the moment so I'm not worried. Sure, the 360 may be turning out a better profit but not like Sony is in a lot of trouble either. If Sony stops making PS3s, that won't affect me one bit because I already own one. If they stop making games for it is another story. However, if that were to happen, I can simply buy another console. I can still play games albeit on a different platform, so the effect on my gaming is minimal at best.

kingdre

Exactly. If a console dies or loses games, I wont care that much. I'll still play the games I have, and ultimately I'm a PC gamer anyway and PCs will never die. :P

If I were you, I would try to drive that point through to consumers across the land...before the holiday season is upon us...and before the 360 takes the holiday season sales lead yet again.Pimpshigity21

Thanks for the advice, but I have a job. ;)

So how is it more expensive than the Xbox 360 Elite?

If I were to create a list of PS2 exlusives, I would have to get back to you tomorrow...and my list would dwarf the list you posted above.Pimp

I think it's funny how one AAAA game and a couple of AAA are supposed to make the PS3s library superterrifically incredible all of a sudden. Nah, the 360 library is way better. Maybe by the end of next year, if MS releases absolutely no games, and all the PS3 games that were promised years ago are finally released (just hope they don't flop), then perhaps the PS3 library will be about as strong as the 360s. Talk to you then...in the mean time, enjoy SOCOM.Pimp

The exclusives on the PS3 are great and are just as good as the exclusives on the 360. Prove me wrong.

The first year was downright terrible...things are bumpy now...perhaps by the end of next year things will indeed be thriving. Good luck.

Pimp

You're exaggerating. The first year was all right but all standards and right now, it's doing well.

If you are happy with the occasional first party exclusive (remember you need to cross your fingers and hope they don't flop)Pimpshigity21

How many 360 exclusives are there that haven't flopped?

...and a vast amount of subpar 360 ports (some of which are downright unplayable)Pimp

Which ones?

. . .then I guess you are right, it does not matter. Congratulations on your expensive BlueRa...err...purchase. . .

The PS3 is doing well enough where game developers might want to port 360 games over to the Sony console, but I doubt that they will want to develop exclusives for that system. Now this is a victory for MS since the strength of the PS2 lied with it's library and it's vast amount of exclusive titles.Pimpshigity21

There are already exclusives for the PS3--a lot of 'em. You have Metal Gear Solid 4, Little Big Planet, Warhawk, Gran Turismo Prologue, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and others. The 360 has just as many. It has Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, and others as well.

The original Xbox did not have tons of exlusives.Pimp

Halo

Fable

Splinter Cell

Project Gotham Racing

The Chronicles of Riddick

Ninja Gaiden

Knights of the Old Republic

Panzer Dragoon Orta

Forza Motorsport

Pyschonauts

Granted, some of these were ported to the PC, but at one time they were considered Xbox exclusives.

This gen the 360 has the price advantage, it has a superior library, and it took the exclusives away from the PS3 (most titles are not exlusive to the 360, but at least they are not only to be found on a Sony console).Pimp

Last year you might have gotten away with the 'superior library' argument, but I don't think it's accurate right now. Most games are on both, and the few titles that aren't are neck-and-neck.

Sure, you might have nothing to worry about, but you also have nothing to rejoice about either.Pimp

Why not? If the PS3 is doing well, has great games, and is a great console, then there is only one thing we can do--enjoy the PS3.

Sony's fall from first to last...thats nothing to jump up and down with joy about...

Pimp

The first year and a half of the PS3 may have been bumpy, but right now it's thriving.
