I've not had anything in game but 2 or 3 times in team management prior to an online game I'll switch a player then the team will all turn to the previous team i played with go to the arena then crash and sometimes I'll go to a quick ranked game and it'll just go to 2 blank teams and won't go back so I have to go back the the dashboard and start again. Couple of things need sorting out but it's much better than fifa 10 and the 'kick run and chip' players from 10 are finding it really difficult haha, I'm glad the goalkeeper has more sense now.
[QUOTE="jeremiah06"] How can it be a "return" when everything is cut out? Like I said it's a good game its just not Final Fantasy. I've played and beaten all of them(expect the mmo's). Also I loved FFXII... So, I guess there is the difference. We go from expansive open world to closed tunnels. It feels like the entire game is on "easy mode" They could have at least included a hard mode or a new game plus. I'm enjoying the game for what it is but It just lacks the enthusiasm to move forward(what I mean by soul). In all the other FF's I felt like I had a reason to progress but XIII just feels like I'm just going through the motions like a loveless marriage.bloodling
Well, personally I felt the urge to keep playing more than ever, especially more than when playinf FFXII. FFX is basically the same in terms of "closed tunnels" except for the lightning plains, the desert and the calm lands, which I didn't like because it was way too big and killing so many ennemies got boring. By the way, if you close your map you will have a harder time finding treasures but I find it better that way, I pay attention to every detail because of this. I bet a lot of people missed quite a few treasures. Also, I love how you can dodge or do pre-emptive strikes in this game.
Yeah, In FFX its closed tunnels(I was comparing it to XII) but IDK for me I was "in to it" It made me want to progress, to get that next aion, to pass the next trails, to recruit blitz ball layers etc. I like the way the battles was handled it was like the Xenosaga series(I loved those). What I missed the most (which was n FFX) was grinding my way to saiyan levels of strength and breezing through enemies. You're always just strong enough in FFXIII. The reason you're always just strong enough is because you're always fighting equal opponents whereas in earlier FF's you'd end up running into enemies that you were fighting when you were weaker hence 'breezing through enemies'. Mere illusion.[QUOTE="CraigyM83"]No thanks. I bought a PS3 to play on, not to fling myself around the room with.MushroomWigCheck out the demo of someone playing Socom 4, he isn't flinging himself around the room either. You appear to have taken it too literally.
Good lordy you people just don't get it. Sure its Final Fantasy in the literal sense. How could anyone deny that?? Its just not FF to some of us who were used to it the way it was, liked it that way, and expected it to stay that way. Final Fantasy has changed. Oh well. All good things come to an end. I'm enjoying the game, but I can easily tell you its not my favorite. So far its sitting at about 4th place, though, so thats not too bad. Square Enix isn't listening to fans anymore, so don't worry about that. They, like everyone else, are trying to reach a much broader market and know that most people don't like JRPGs. So, guess what... They didn't make one.[QUOTE="TheEldestGod"][QUOTE="SteveTabernacle"]
I agree. I'm very much like Yahtzee and Jim Sterling on this subject. Developers should ignore fans. Fans are chains that hold games back by forcing them to adhere to rigid formula. Make the game you want to make to fit your vision, and just go with it. All this talk of this not being a "true" Final Fantasy is without any merit at all. If SE says this is a Final Fantasy game, that's what it is. No amount of stubborn denial will change that. To those who don't like the changes you have a simple option here, cash in your chips and leave the Final Fantasy table. Because it's obvious the series has simply left some of you behind. Final Fantasy is a big name in a shrinking increasingly niche genre.
Changes to broaden it's appeal beyond the "fans" are an absolute must. The chains have been broken, and I doubt SE will willingly be chained down again. You stay classy, Squeenix.

Exacly. In a nutshell, they ditched their faithfull fans in order to make more money, making a game that SHOULD appeal to a broader audience...the problem is, in order to reach a broader audience, you have to make a game simple (which speaks a lot for the gamer population ans/or the population in general... IQ anyone?). And a simple FF is like Blizzard removing levels from WoW because they suddenly feel they make things too complicated
I have yet to see a sigle person who liked the FF 3-12 say they are completely happy with the new game. And this is not surprising, as to us this game feels like it was made for little kids. Sorry, but it's true. And as good as the game's story and graphics are, the shallow and simplistic design decisions really show. I was hoping, praying that FF 13 would NOT end up like Sqaure's last failiure "The last remnant", but instead it turned out even worse in some aspects.
In short, FF is a solid game with a good story and graphics, but nothing more. And as most FF fans can tell you, this is not good enough for a FF game.
So this brings me to my question: With the new RPG-s that came out for the ps3 lately, which one would you recomment for a real jRPG fan? I'm really in need of a solid jRPG which knows it's place. Star ocean or White knight chronicles? Maybe a 3rd one?
I'd recommend to a real JRPG fan that he accept it's a dead genre.
