@esqueejy: Did you seriously just bring up someone's political party choice as a reason they should die..
As if that has anything to do with his latest movies. Seriously, take your insecure need for validation somewhere else. While you're at it, google what "tribalism" is and contemplate why you spend your life adhering to the color of some banner over another.
@louixiii: Hopefully you saw my above comment. but Rod Furguson confirmed on Twitter that the "beta" that was being demo'd in the footage we saw today is a pre alpha build of the game. A lot can still change, especially graphically.
To address all the misinformation in the comments:
Rod Ferguson said the other day on Twitter that the multiplayer "Beta Tour" that was shown to journalists and played (The above video) is a PRE-ALPHA build of the game.
They are calling it a beta for the sake of simplicity but the game is still in an alpha state. Rod also stressed multiple times that this beta isn't for marketing purposes and that it is, and I quote,
@lonesamurai1: I mean, that was my whole point. Is that PC gaming has never been important in Japan and it still isn't.
You're one of those guys I bet who are constantly saying on some elitist thread that "Consoles are dying!".
Yeah, sorry they aren't. They appeal to way too wide of a demographic and will always be a good budget alternative to gaming that a cell phone will never be able to achieve without turning into a console itself.
You are heavily exaggerating the presence of mobile gaming. It still doesn't have anything on the 3DS in Japan.
Mobile gaming is like PC gaming but with really weak specs. It poses the same problems. Yeah it's expanded but again you are leaving out context. Mobile games typically are free or cost really low amounts.
It isn't pulling in jack shit compared to consoles. 3DS and Wiiu are still preferred in Japan.
@slickwilly06: When did I ever mention multi thousand dollar gaming rigs? I spent about $1300 on mine personally and it could definitely run 4k, but I wasn't going to blow 600-800 on a 4K monitor when i could get a top level 1080 one for around 350.
Especially since right now almost no games can utilize 4k properly. Sure, battlefield and the Witcher can make it happen but even then it's not true 4K.
In about 1-2 years I'll probably invest in one, when it's more cost efficient.
@Moonco: As if Nintendo has any functioning online and a 3rd party game this could even apply to.
Also way to generalize an entire demographic of people by assuming they are all toxic because they play on Xbox. Your comment was incredibly ignorant and less than pointless. There are toxic people on every platform and great people too.
3DS and WiiU ARE consoles, hello? You don't get to pick and choose what you consider viable evidence. A console is a console.
And if you think the WiiU is the only one doing anything you are sadly mistaken. PS4 is 759k units behind WiiU but the total numbers are still notable as of January 2016.
24 year low doesn't mean jack when consoles in general still take up this much market share.
Your entire argument is irrelevant too because you are using this to defend your standpoint on PC only. So if you really want to be objective, compare the figures for the PS4 and WiiU to people who game on PC in Japan.
Go ahead. I'll tell you ahead of time that it's laughably bad. It's not liek that 24 year low is a result of PC gaming being on the rise, it's practically non existent there.
And if you call yourself a gamer and all you care about is looks, then I feel sorry for you.
@Stebsis: You realize that the Xbox isn't the only console right?
The Wiiu and PS4 hold a disgusting amount of market share in Japan, and don't even get me started on hand helds. they are nuts about consoles. Yes the Xbox doesn't do well over there because it's an American console and that's the way it's always been.
Also to get back to the main point, you're right he wouldn't want his name to be on it. He didn't want to do it in the first place, Namco pressured them to make a PC port after all the whining because of the success of the games on consoles and he didn't want to do it because he didn't feel confident in his or his team's ability to make a PC port. (Keep in mind they are a AA studio at this point, and are pretty small overall. Not a AAA studio funded by EA).
Why do you think he hailed Tonimura as their best bet for Dark Souls 2? Because he said he was a better programmer and he knew this time around they would HAVE to make a PC port. They built a whole new engine so the game would perform better and run properly on PC. Meanwhile, Miyazaki focused on Bloodborne for console and eventually took what they learned to port Dark Souls 3 over to PC (it may still be a terrible port, we will see).
Can you guess what happened?
The actual gameplay in DKS2 suffered immensely. New engine ran well graphics/performance wise but had a host of new problems. The original engine was the best and played the best on consoles because that's what it was intended for.
It's not "half-assed" just because it didn't turn out well. Remember that they are human beings, and they can fail. Especially when tasked with something they aren't used to like programming for PC. Which many devs hate doing.
And again, just getting another studio to do it isn't so simple. That's a huge risk at the time for a game that might sell better on consoles anyway. Hiring a new dev team just for a PC port is not an attractive prospect when they didn't to make a port to begin with.
I'm excited to start getting more use out of my PS4 and it's nice to see some updates from Sony.
Unpopular opinion: Despite the DS4 controller being way better than DS3(not saying much), it still is a god awful uncomfortable controller for me. I have been waiting and hoping Sony will make a more "Xbox" shaped game pad for a while now so there are other options.
While playing Bloodborne, not only were my fingers in a constant tiger claw, unnatural pinch position but my thumbs kept slipping off the sticks because they are CONVEX and stick out for some reason.
PS4 would be amazing for me if that would change. Because right now I love the UI for the PS4 overall. But my Xbone controller is vastly more comfortable.
