@tyranttortuga: He's an obvious troll lol my rig is a lot better than my xbox. But for this game the biggest differences are in performance, not graphics.
@slickwilly06: Let's be real, no one uses 4K. And if they do, they are enthusiasts with money to blow on Specs that are not cost efficient, and can barely be used by the majority of games.
Again, you are only concerned with yourself. YOUR perfect build doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of of things.
Consoles rule the market in Japan and they really don't care if 10% of people in NA have Max power PCs.
They are going for the largest possible sales demographic. Which is consoles. They are more reliable for sales and for consistency.
I built my own custom PC as well, and stuck a 970 and 4690k cpu in there with the best compatible asus mobo i could find. My machine runs like a dream.
But just because mine is awesome doesn't mean i expect From /any other dev to cater their game to my platform when it's not the one they are focusing on to begin with.
@Stebsis: you think Miyazaki wants just anyone porting /cresting his game just so it will run on a platform he never wanted to program on to begin with?
That's a lot of extra resources time and risk for one platform, which isn't the platform he was aiming for to begin with.
I'm not sure you are aware of this either, but in Japan consoles rule the market. They really don't care very much about PC there because they understand that the majority demographic are more like to adopt consoles than PCs.
There's a lot of reasons why PC isn't a priority to this particular studio, it's one platform out of 3 main ones. As PC gamers we can't expect to be the focus when we are the minority in this scenario compared to PS4 and Xbox combined.
First of all, number of total sales on PC doesn't mean shit when half of them were probably on sale on steam for $10-20.
Second, It didn't even come out until way later, and was sold at half the price and included DLC. Of course it sold a lot. Everyone who already owned it on console (most people) just paid for the DLC separate and it didn't count as a new sale that way.
Sales on both consoles combined are still more than PC.
The only reason the PC sales are as inflated as they are is because the DLC version was the only one available.
You can't seriously compare total sales from 2 years later and disregard everything else i said to make a moot point.
"your console". Cool tribalism and assumption you have there. I'm typing this from my PC i built myself. (GTX970, 4690kCPU).
Just because someone understands the objective truth of something doesn't mean they are a console fanboy.
@DAOWAce: You realize the second game's performance has nothing to do with this one's right?
Completely different engine. DKS2 engine was made with graphics/performance in mind. DKS,BB, and DKS3 all use the older engine that was designed for consoles at the time.
@lonesamurai1: How "capable" your build is means literally nothing. Max power on one build is irrelevant and worthless when considering the huge demographic of people who will buy the game.
You and I are just one build configuration out of thousands that the game has to magically work perfect on. There are 100,000,000 little things that can go wrong with any given PC that will cause a game to not run properly.
PC is incredibly inconsistent and unreliable for this exact reason. So you and I have no right to "expect" better when just making a game that works on a thousand different jank-ass builds is a miracle in itself.
Also remind yourself that Dark Souls 1,Bloodborne, and DKS3 are built on a very old engine that was designed for consoles, not PC.
Manage your expectations realistically and realize they aren't just considering the 10% of people who put $1200 into a PC.
@Stebsis: Have you ever considered that From simply doesn't like programming for PC?
They have always preferred programming for console as that was what Souls was originally intended to run on.
It's an old engine designed to run Demon's Souls on PS3 architecture.. The only reason souls even came to PC was because people bitched and whined until From was forced to. And the port ended up being shit until it was fixed.
If it wasn't for consoles, Dark Souls wouldn't exist. Making a game run "properly" is lot less simple than you are making it sound. You're expecting a console game Dev to make a great PC port to accomadate thousands of different PC builds using different hardware on an old engine designed for consoles. Not even mentioning the sales they lose because of all the human waste that pirates games for PC.
Making a PC port for a console port is always a huge risk, and I'm tired of all the entitlement acting like it's just owed to you. The reality of PC is that it is inconsistent.
