Yeah Ed And Zorine!!! I missed you two together! And yes there is so much unseen, same on the Shaun Method today, but that's okay, more for new players to find.
I'm really sad I missed this episode this time. I suggested this to Jess and was hoping to see it live.
I JUST was looking at this on Steam the other day. I don't know if it's new, but was just amazed at the back-lash to it's poor quality and for good reason! But this is great... I haven't laughed this hard at a game in sooo long!
God I f*cking loved this game! I played it sooooo much that I still often hum the theme from the menu. Now it'll be in there for days. My roommate and I played the co-op missions over and over again. In every load-out combo you could come up with. And to this day, anytime something sneaky and military like is taking place we still hum that damn theme.
Good episode. As an "adult" gamer it is nice to really look through gaming history and not just focus on the new. There is a lot to be learned for new gamers and developers. And it makes appreciating the advances in gaming much easier and fulfilling.
As far as the top 5 remembered themes... he's right, they are from a long time ago, because there is little now that has the same effect but for a few.
Old:
1) Zelda
2) Super Mario Brothers
3) Contra
4) Super Tecmo Bowl
5) and one theme from a game I can't remember but I know if from old 8-bit game.
Newer stuff is very few, but the most notable I think for many would have to be:
1) Skyrim, seriously that theme will be in my head for decades
2) Ambient themes from Red Dead Redemption
3) The Theme from one of the first Bond games for the PS2, but that's a Bond Theme so... the menu was just on a lot and will always be stuck in my head.
I want to believe the title... but although LOTR has SO much video game potential, most of the games are fun because of OUR love for the material. Yet the games themselves are often shallow and shameful renditions of a great Source material. So as a jaded, but reasonable gamer, I will hope and remain skeptical.
