QFT and QFE. The nVidia drivers for Vista are in a VERY immature state at this point; give it some time, much like any other OS that was just released, the drivers will come. Every new driver released brings the nVidia cards on Vista closer to working flawlessly.
Oh, and you expect STALKER to run perfectly on any system? The game is horribly optimized, it's just that simple.

That's the ultimate minimum just because Vista uses 500Mb ram itself. The performance is horrible with 512Mb ram, even when browsing the internet. RK-Mara
Erm, no. Vista only appears to "use" that much memory because of the feature it has that keeps memory cycling, Superfetch. It makes memory addressing faster, but it makes it appear that something is eating up that much memory. It's up to the user if they want to be intelligent enough to know the features of Vista before they spurt crap like "omg it eets ram lol." I used Vista Ultimate (minus aero and such of course) on a VM with 640mb of memory assigned to it, and it worked perfectly fine. Imagine how well Home Basic (the default for a lot of budget laptops out there) works on just 512mb.
Running Ultimate now on 1GB of RAM, a 7600 GS, and an Athlon XP 3200+. Works wonderfully.
Pretty much. Vista, as of now, is about on par with XP SP2, and as I've said oh so many times, that's incredible for a Microsoft OS so close to launch. Vista is running wonderfully on my machine, better than XP did, in fact. I've had almost no errors (I had one compatibility issue that was solved by running the program with administrator permissions), and it runs smoothly, with no loss in performance with any game. I'd highly advise you try it before listening to anyone else complain about it, especially on this site.
Oh and BTW sony is still making a profit and MS is losing money ATM. You got it mixed up. onemic

Oh, and the post I quoted. Sony is selling at a huge loss, and will be for some time unless they get a LOT more support for the PS3. The PS3 costs ~$830 to produce, and with a price in the US of $600 that's over $200 in the red for each unit sold. Nintendo is currently the only company making a profit off their latest console.
Memory bandwidth matters, no exceptions. It's ALWAYS best to have memory with the same bandwidth and speeds as your motherboard's FSB. If it's an FSB of 800, you want DDR2 800. FSB 1066, DDR2 1066, etc. You can have memory and FSB speeds not match, but either way it can only effect performance negatively. Having matching memory speed and FSB speed helps keep the memory synchronized with everything else in the PC. Bandwidth is the amount of data the memory sends/receives at once, so more bandwidth = more performance, to the same extent as speeds.
