now im probably going to end up buying this one too, but really disappointed by the part about both in battle ai and the campaign ai and/or the pathing etc.

Those issues have been the series biggest issues since forever and they just keep giving us more of the same. If you've played all the games this really is getting taxing to play against.

And now there are objective points which are basically an excuse for you to HAVE to attack a certain hill or strongpoint and the ai basically just gets to sit there. I don't care about elephants and war galley's I care about the men.

@quakke well I stopped enjoying things after quake 2 personally, I was just saying this guy had joined the company 2 years after doom 2 was completed.

But ya that having been said, I thought the first level and demo for doom 3 was great, really cool computer system looked good, great artwork etc etc, but after that I got hung up on the fact that most of the enemies in the game were the exact same just with different skins and the enemies teleported in so you couldn't play smart, and when they did teleport it was almost always to the exact same point behind you.

Just get good at pivoting in place everytime you hear that noise or get good at hitting a flying skull or any of the other small flying clone enemies and theres really nothing left to the game.

and I could never get into quake arena more then a few games. Just lost the quake feeling at that point imo, and I could never play it all that much. It always just felt like a cheap generic shooter to me.

@Massacher lol and I would argue the exact opposite to that.

we live in a childs world today of cartoon shooters and over the top run and gun action junkies that only rely on muscle memory for skill, and cant find their way out of a paper bag.

the only shooters I can even play anymore tend to border simulators, require actual thought and planning, and bring a lot more challenge to equation.

I don't understand how your taking away of realistic features can somehow add to your experience unless you are a casual gamer and should just go watch a movie anyways.

man looking at the time when he arrived is the exact time that ID went from being my absolute favorite company where I had bought all their games, to hating them and never paying for any of them ever again.

Hope he doesn't fubar up his next home.

they need to insist on improving their products 'before' they actually get released for once.

been playing games for 30 years, and cant help but keep using the word 'pathetic' over and over again for this generation of games.

the original was awesome and hilarious, but if they borked up the new duke nukem so bad, I cant see this doing any better. No one even knew about the old game.

@Eraldus lol youth. Always so overly optimistic these days.

unfortunately what you hope for is the very definition of a pipe dream and if you had any experience with beta's alpha's or simply pre-release games you'd know that.

Once a game hits that phase only little things can be addressed simply. Unless there is a major problem they rarely touch anything of real importance past that phase beyond balance tweeks.

This whole industry has come to rely on the optimism and hope of people such as yourselves, always holding out the carrot and hoping never realize that what you really want is never going to come.

Its easier to herd sheeple then to polish a turd.
