Another New Milestone! Level 30!

I don't usually make blog posts about level milestones, but this time is an exception. For some reason level 30 seems like some invisible barrier, something to tell others you've been around the block that is Gamespot a few times. Now I just hope I don't get a point loss... :P

A Bunch of Stuff

Gamespot.com isn't blocked at my school! For the longest time I thought it was, so I never went to it. However, this does not mean I can just openly go on the forums without some measure of discretion, and likely enough I won't go very much at all, but having the option there is nice.

My first baseball practice was today. It was indoors because it was cold out and the fields were wet; and usually, indoor practices are easy. This, however, was not the case today. I literally nearly fainted due to all the running we did; I also heard kids say the practice today was harder than anything they ever did in basketball. I find that funny, seeing as basketball involves much more running than baseball does. Oh well, I guess I needed a workout. I also found out today my swing is very badly messed up, so that's something I'm going to need to work on. Man am I sore.

The other day me and my brother had a little SSBB tournament, just me and him against 6 computers. Nothing big really. Some of the stuff in it was pretty funny though. We had random CPU's on random levels, on random stages. 4 stock matches, no time limit.

Round 1: My Brother (Mario) against Sonic (Level 2)- Lets just say my brother won speedily and easily. Win 4-0.

Round 1: Me (Toon Link) against Mr. Game and Watch (Level 9)- Oh come on! My brother gets a level 2 computer and I get a level 9? Talk about bad luck. The match was also on one of his horrible player created stages. The map was so big it was nearly impossible to kill your opponent. Thye match started off well for me, comboing MGAW into the wall a few times, making him rack up high damage. I smash him straight up, four times in a row, he being at 150+ damage and I at about 50, but I couldn't kill him. He just would not die. He eventually landed and just annihilated me, killing me with a smash. I respawn, and smash him to the side and kill him. He then proceed to kill me again, I barely even touching him. then the strangest thing happened. As I died, he taunted, except he taunted while over a gap, and he fell to his death while taunting. I then proceeded to win, spamming my boomerang over and over again, knowing he could not block it efficiently and protect himself from my smashes. Win 4-3.

Round 1: Level 5 Olimar and Level 7 Lucas advance.

Round 2: Level 7 Lucas defeats level 5 Olimar.

Round 2: Me ( Toon Link) vs. My brother (Mario)- This epic showdown occurred on a very unusual stage, Skyworld. The floors, if not broken, cannot be jumped through. Luckily for me, Toon Link has a stronger recovery than Mario, which I exploited. My strategy was to smash my brother below the stage and hopefully get him stuck there, having him fall to his death. My brother is a stronger close player than I am, but he never has a strategy, so I always win in the end. I basically bashed him around with smashes and got a few quick KO's simply because he could not recover. I won 4 Ko's to 2.

Round 3: Championship- Me (Toon Link) Against Lucas (Level 7)- Map: Distant Planet-This match wasn't even fair. I didn't even die. I hit Lucas into the creature's mouth on the side of the map once, and exploited his overall lightness to kill him at low damage percentages.

I won! Go me!

Basaball Starts Up Tomorrow!

Yep, my High School's baseball season starts tomorrow with tryouts. Because I've been on the team for the past two years, I'm pretty much guaranteed a spot on the team, not that they have ever made cuts. I'm not the best player out there, so I'll probably be on JV again, even though its considered pretty bad if you don't make Varsity by Junior year in my school. But hey, I play for fun. I hope this season will go better than last, where my JV team went 3-16, losing at least 6 or 7 games by 20+ runbs, the worst being a 34-3 loss in six innings where the other team stopped trying after 3 innings, batting lefty and such. The Varsity team was like 4-16 last year, so they also had a miserable year.

The only remarkable milestone for me last year was that I hit my first extra-base hit in like 3 years last year, a double. I pretty much hit exclusively singles; I'm no power hitter.

I probably shouldn't be up at midnight the day before baseball starts, but oh well.

I Can't Believe it, but...

I'm already kinda bored of SSBB. Its just kind of the same game Melee was, just with a few more bells and whistles added on. Therefore, I've continues playing Morrowind again. I'm the Master of the Fighters Guild, the Grandmaster of House Hlallu, and high ranking in a few other guilds which I have yet to finish. Morrowind just has so much stuff o it.

I Swear I have a Hole in My Floor

I've lost about ten pens now by dropping them on the floor. Where do they go? my bed is right next to me, but I scoured every inch of it and found nothing. I've also checked near my computer. Yet, I still cannot find these pens. Where could they be? Its not like there is a open wormhole in my room they are falling into. I swear, if when I eventually move out of this house I find like 30 pens in this one small random spot I'm going to be angry.

How Can Anyone Like Call of Duty 3?

I just can't wrap my brain around it. The game has simply awful dialogue accompanied by a lackluster attempt at a storyline, a single player campaign inferior to Call of Duty 2, and an online which didn't work for months after the release (at least for me and some others). And yet, some people I know love it. And I just don't understand that.

New Game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Me and my brother bought Super Smash Brothers Brawl today. Its great! I like using Pit so far, but with so many characters still locked, it will be hard to determine my favorite for a while. I've yet to play any adventure mode, so I don't quite know how that is yet. I've just been brawlin' with my brother, winning every match except two... ;)

I don't have online for the Wii yet, so I can't play online. Still, level 7 computers and my brother are fine competition for now. I still need to shake off the rust from my Melee days. I haven't played in about one and a half years, so playing this game felt awkward at first. Right now I'm using a Gamecube controller to play the game because I am more used to it.

One thing I need to work on is learning to use my shield and dodge moves more. I tend to accumulate damage rather quickly and die often because I cannot remember to dodge those obvious smash moves. I also need to work on my mid-air attacks.

The "super moves" are kind of cool, but some characters, such as Mario, Fox, and Bowser have amazingly cheap moves whereas Pit's is rather weak. I have therefore turned off the item that gives super moves, restricting super moves to when you randomly get them in the game. Items FTL.

Did any of you guys get SSBB? What are your thoughts on it?

I'm Very proud of Myself

I didn't put off the most difficult part of my weekly history homework to the last day! A new day has dawned! I am free tomorrow! Free! Procrastination no more!

I can't kid myself though. This non-procrastination trend will probably not continue. :(

Curb Your Enthusiasm

I have to ay this is one of the funniest shows on television. The show is on HBO, which means that most people won't be able to see it. However, the season DVD's are on Netflix or availible at some video rental stores like Blockbuster. If you have any sense of humor whatsoever I highly recommmend you check this show out. It is made by Larry David, the creator of Seinfeld, and in this show he plays himself. The situations he gets into are unbelieveable. I'd link to some clips, but because of the straong language and mature themes present in the show, I'd likely be modded... :P The show has six seasons out on DVD, each season having ten episodes. I don't recommend the show to anybody under about 16 years of age because of the mature and sometimes sexual humor, but to anyone else, I say check it out if you haven't already.
