GTFO. All the characters already have there own voices. I couldn't imagine hearing a Goron, Zelda etc. talking in another way. If they do, it'll be like that time I watched of mice and men after reading the book. Hearing Lennie talking everytime made me cringe!
are you joking??? To me, that posts makes about as much sense as Skyward sword being praised for nostalgia. ;)I said it before and I'll say it again.I say people like Uncharted because of nostalgia. People grew up watching many movies/TV series similar to uncharted, such as MacGyver and Indiana Jones, they don't want to leave it behind, so they stick with something similar, Uncharted.
It's that easy.

LOL. Merely stating that SOTC is a mature game over Zelda just proves your sensitivity. Jumping on monsters heads and shoving your sword in them is not mature. (and yes I'm well aware that the SOTC does not only consist of that, as much as I'm aware that LoZ is not all about running around trying to save a princess. see what I did there?)
Also, saying that Skyward Sword is "whimsical and childish" just proves you have not beat it to the end. I don't want to give any spoilers, but the ending is so dynamic and revealing to the entire LoZ franchise.
lightleggy
did you ever finished SOTC? if you dont think the plot is dark and tragic then you should go and have your emotions checked.
I mean
So you only start killing giants and working for that weird voice because the love of your life was sacrificed because some people thought she would have a "dark future". every time a giant dies you lose a bit more of your humanity and essence, in the end after the final giant is dead, you are barely human and turns out that the guy you were working for was bad and the giants were good and they were the only thing keeping the guy from wreaking havoc. you become a demonlike creature, then you become just a shadow, and you start to be sucked by a fountain, you try to struggle with all your might to reach your love's body, but its useless, you cant fight the force pulling you, just before you are completly absorbed by the fountain, you can see your love revive, but you are turned into a baby, a non human baby if I might add and you are forced to live in seclusion in a forsaken land.
how isnt that extremely tragic and dark?
Maybe YOU should get your eyes checked seeing as I never said that the SOTC plot is not "dark and tragic". I said that the LoZ series is in no way a game for kids or "whimsical and childish" as he put it.since the n64, zelda to me has been "ok" to "pretty good." its certainly not a paragon for the adventure genre anymore. lets face it, zelda didnt have much competition back in the 80s and 90s compared to today.
i just recently beat shadow of the colossus for about the sixth time (this time with the HD collection) and it really reminded me of so much that the zelda franchise is lacking. i know this statement will piss people off but as a general rule
adventure/fantasy games for adults >>>>adventure/fantasy games for kids
i cant go from playing something like SOTC which has a serious, non-cliche, mature, tragic storyline with real weight, sacrifice, emotional turmoil, moral ambivalence, and an atmosphere that accentuates them all...... to something as whimsical and childish as "skyward sword" and be able to legitimately say that its anywhere near as artistically sound.

All I see here is a bunch of "herp derp it's because of nostalgia." Alright then, I say people like Uncharted because of nostalgia. People grew up watching many movies/TV series similar to uncharted, such as MacGyver and Indiana Jones, they don't want to leave it behind, so they stick with something similar, Uncharted.
Because, unlike most games these days, it doesn't feel like a poorly written movie. I mean, most crittically acclaimed games in the action adventure franchise feel like some screen writer wrote it up, looked at it, thought "man this'll be low in the ratings, meh turn it into a game and we'll get a 9/10 easily." Then, that 9/10 game feels like watching a movie while pressing buttons half the time.
Half of the time it felt like I was watching a movie while pressing buttons Come at me bro!
Uh, what does console power have to do with my thread?
The Wii's woefully underpowerd hardware is the reason for the lack of third-party support in this area. Multi-platform games can't be ported over directly because of this so the Wii ends up getting games made specifically for it--and publishers then reason that if they are making Wii-specific games they might as well design ones that will appeal to the Wii's target audience.
The Wii U appears to have the competitive power the Wii lacked and has been confirmed to have ports of games like Ninja Gaiden 3 and Batman: Arkham City, so the Wii's shortcomings in this area probably won't be a problem for the Wii U.

It's standard in every Wii thread.

I'd be inclined not to buy it; I want a game controller, not a freakin IPAD...
Wiimotefan
How about a game controller with all the same buttons you're used to, plus a touch screen that enables even more functionality? Because that is what we're discussing here, not an IPAD.
Exactly. Why are people so inclined to thinking that the Wii U controller will function like an iPad? It blows my mind. It has all the standard buttons, plus atouch screen.
