I just made level 85 yesterday in WoW:cool:

I will just say that each of these platforms gives me a different kind of experience, I like having that diversity, of being able to play Heavy Rain on PS3, jump on my 360 to play a shooter, then jump on my PC and run some instances in wow.

My life would be boring without that variety.

But at the same time I find myself getting worn down because I'm missing alot of games that I don't have time to play, it's hard to keep up with 3 platforms.

This! Exclusives matter but i would also say that games a platform library doesnt contain also matters

I'll admit it, I've had it a few times on my old pc from 2002 BUT it was my fault from trying to OC my pentium 4 lol.

You are missing the point. I addressed the game's writing and pacing, mostly. These elements are timeless. Bad writing and poor pacing can't be excused by the "fact that HL2 is seven years old".

As for graphics, they still hold up very well. The setpieces are very pretty. The gravity gun and physics, awesome as ever. But the key things - good writing and proper pacing - are subpar. That was what I was trying to get at.

And I did play HL2 seven years ago.

OK then lets do this...

WRITING, it tells a very believable and haunting story of humanity's near exctinction and depicts a very (again believable) world that supports the story. The story has mystery in terms of the Gman, it has a silent protagonist but in terms of a video game this actually allows players to make a greater connection. The main characters are explored through their interactions with each other and simple things such as photos on the wall, of particular not is the relationship of Alyx and her father. So much so by the end of Ep2 you care for them both. The story has trajedy, betrayal, has a well told beginning of humanity's struggle, it has a building of tension through the middle with the lonliness of Ravensholm, the beginning of the climatic ending with an uprising/rebellion and then a clearly defined epic ending in the citadel confronting the main bad guy.

PACING, the game goes through several distinct stages that require everything from action packed combat sequences, to survival horror and even vehicle sequences with smoothly integrated boss sequences. You're never doing the same thing from one level to the next, and again its all so interwoven into the story of the protagonists journey through the utterly believable game world.

Its and epic game that still is not really surpassed. You'd have done better by picking on the fact it is linear.

I'm struggling to get into Dark Souls. I only bought the game based on the GS review and so far I cannot see the appeal. Firstly the most off-putting aspect is the Japanese-style presentation, it feels like an old game like the original Resident Evil era. There is nothing inherently wrong with that but I just personally like the more cinematic and polish of modern western games.

I'vew put hours and hours into skyrim, not quite finished but LOVED the whole dark brotherhood side quests, to me they were as epic as most games main quests.

I'll give Dark Souls another chance and admittedly I'm not very far into the game, but so far its not grabbing me. I'm prepared to be wowed though, we'll see :)

TC, ps3 version of skyrim has lower resolution textures, normal maps, specular maps, light maps, draw distance, overall poly-count per object, lower AA, frame-rate than PC version.....but you know this because i get the distinct impression you're a fake-boy trying to wind everyone up. Amirite?
